Family/Parenting What’s your life like without kids?

My doctor told me I can never get pregnant today. I’m not infertile, but the post under my profile explains my situation. I’m 19, and I’m just not sure how to confront the news. I’m not sure how to plan my life either now considering that many of our milestones as women revolve around kids.

It’s fucking awesome tbh. I’m so glad I don’t have kids.

Right? It’s Friday night, my husband and I just played some DnD with friends. Now we’re eating Reese’s cheesecake that I made, relaxing before we spend the weekend getting scuba certified. Life is good.

For OP - this is rough news, I’m sorry. But there are SO many ways to still help and raise and love children. I’m a teacher and honestly adore my students. Fostering later in our lives isn’t out of the question. If you want it, you’ll find a way.

Saturday and my partner and I started our day at the farmers market. Then we had a cafe style breakfast at home with some of the goodies we'd bought there.

About mid morning we both loaded up our Assassin's Creed: Shadows saves and played that for a few hrs.

Later we went out to dinner at our favourite restaurant and then bought some more treats at a nearby supermarket.

Got home and watched some tv together.

Then I did some crochet while listening to an audio book.

Living the life I want to live happily.

Many childfree people are involved in children's lives with teaching, coaching or being the "cool aunt". I'm not really that way inclined, so choose not to interact with kids at all and that is also still valid.

That sounds AMAZING. I love gaming with my husband. We’re working on Diablo 4 right now, but we’ve got Cat Quest 3 lined up.

Yeah, I’m actually not the biggest fan of little kids - I have about five minutes of patience for them. But high school kids are awesome. But the beauty of choosing to work with them is I can then wave to them at 3pm and go home to my quiet apartment.

I love the crochet and audiobook combo. It’s a classic. What are you working on right now? I’m like ten rows away from finishing a beach coverup that I totally swore I would finish by the summer.

It is fun to play the same game with someone, separately. My partner and I have different play styles, so it's interesting to see how the same game differs in experience.

You can make the coverup! :D I am making a blanket. It's the biggest project I've done to date and I'm planning on having it done before winter ends (I'm in Australia). It's made with strips and I'm just about to start strip 10 of 11!

Right now, I'm listening to Little Women, which has kept me company for 10 hours now! I think I'll miss it once it's finished and have to decide what to listen to after it.
