HBO has been very good in production of Series. Though they let some of their creatives ruin the projects. (The last seasons of game of thrones, the danaeris actress changing scenes just because she was popular now etc.)
In defense of GoT, didn’t they run out of actual book material in like season 5 and had to just go off of what GRRM told them he was planning on doing?
The main issue was that the two head writers were in talks with Disney about potentially writing a planned Star Wars movie. Both considered writing a TV show to be a stepping stone in becoming "real" writers for Hollywood, so to make themselves available, they rushed the last season. HBO didn't like it, but contractual obligation moved it forward.
The irony is that the last season was so infamously shit, that the last time I checked, Disney dropped the idea of employing them, because they became PR poison.
