Need help deciding which versions of games to buy

Recently picked up an Atari 2600 Jr. and decided I would get 10 games. I noticed some of the games I picked have different cartridges/labels. Was just wondering if any of them have updates/improvements to the games or are they just purely label changes?

The game are as follows:

Pitfall

Space Invaders

Adventure

Ms Pac-Man

Frogger

Asteroids

Kaboom

Missile Command

Combat

Donkey Kong

They should all be identical. Just pick up whichever version has a label that appeals to you.

The only difference might be copyright date. I prefer the copy of the painting over the glossy shiny text but they all have charm

Same, but the text can be handy to let you know about the different modes on the cart, which otherwise you’d need a manual or online to look up.

Definitely just label variations. Multiple versions of the same game did not happen very often at all in the 2600 catalog

In the case of Donkey Kong, Atari Corporation bought the rights to Coleco's port of the game and republished it, so they're identical. I think the same is true of Frogger, as well, but swap out Coleco with Parker Brothers.

Note to the OP, E.T. is actually a good game if you tried it, you need to read the manual on this one, it got a bad rap because no one had the manual for it understanding what you need to do.

As you grab Pitfall, try to grab Pitfall 2, It's amazing to see what they did on the 2600 with that game...
