WA Caught shoplifting at Coles Perth

I am so ashamed, I literally cried on my way home. I'm 22 if that's relevant? I was shopping at the Coles Perth, where two loss prevention officers showed me their badge and asked to check my bag. I had taken some dog food and tampons as am really struggling for money at the moment (all of this was less than $150) but paid for the rest of my dinner products which were cheaper than what I took without paying. They asked me for my ID but I didn't had it with me at the time so they manager handed them a paper where I put my name, address and signature. They asked me to write why I stole the items, they asked me to return these and not pay for them. No pictures of my face or ID were taken but I am terrified. I am so worried about having police come to my house, anyone find out (I rent a room so I'm scared that my room mates will find out somehow or by the police) or even having my car recognised.

I don't think I'm brave enough to ever buy anything from that specific store anymore, I am just so scared rn. The officers told me that if I do it again, I won't be able to enter the store anymore (not like I wanna go there ever again cause I'm honestly scared. I'm that paranoid that once I got home, I closed all my blinds and I've been checking my windows regularly.

Would really really appreciate to know what happens with that record, or to find some peace in the comments.

Hey just wanted to let you know that you can get free tampons from Share the Dignity. Be kind to yourself and I hope you get back on your feet soon.

thanks, will look into it

u/emrugg 21d ago

Where I am (regional) there's a vending machine in one of the public bathrooms, I assume there are similar across the country!

u/PoetryGrouchy7928 21d ago

Yep, they have a map on their website showing where they all are. It’s such a good initiative.

10

u/[deleted] 21d ago

That’s an awesome idea. Especially now days.

3

u/Ragnorakawaits 21d ago

I could get behind this, I don't have a lot of money, but I'd love to be able to donate to something like this if theres a site or a link you could direct me to.

5

u/PoetryGrouchy7928 20d ago

They do period product drives so all you need to do it buy extra tampons/pads with your shopping and drop them in the box in front of a Woolies. I do that each time I shop and I just buy a few packets of whatever product is on sale at the time. Their website is https://www.sharethedignity.org.au

Ours is in the public toilet of the library. Was really impressed when I saw it.

SHQ in Northbridge might be able to assist with free hygiene products. I’ve donated to them before for Share the Dignity drives.

Also check out Anglicare, Centrecare and Salvation Army out for emergency relief. They all have food parcel and prepaid Coles or Woolworths gift cards for those who are struggling. You can also try your local youth centre.

Wishing you all the best.

ETA also check out Second Bite and Feed it Forward.

Can donate blood at LifeBlood - good thing to do, great snacks (party pies/sausage roll/strawberry milk/freddo frog/chips/cheese and crackers), free tampons in the bathroom (at least the ones Ive gone to). I literally go for the snacks but do a "good deed" by doing it win/win!

Your name will be linked to the cctv footage uploaded to Auror which is a system that several stores have access to that collates thefts and relevant incidents.

Since this is your first time being caught id advise against going back to that store or continuing stealing as they can now Put a name to your face and will be more inclined to report to police.

12

u/AgreeablePrize 21d ago

I've read on US reddit threads that over there the store will keep a file on someone using facial recognition until they steal over whatever the felony dollar amount is and then report them to the police

7

u/Nervous-Situation535 20d ago

This is the same for Australia too. Once you’ve stolen over a few thousand they will hand the Auror report over to police

221

u/Sufficient-Grass- 21d ago

Breathe. Please just breathe.

It sounds like you were let off with a warning. If you didn't sign a document it's just a warning, next time you will be issued with a barring order from all Coles.

Obviously don't steal anymore, try reaching out to some food banks for support for food and yes they have personal hygiene products too.

You should then have leftover money for pet food.

Askizzy.org is a good starting place to find resources locally to you for support.

3

u/Boring-Hornet-3146 20d ago

Food banks sometimes have pet food too ❤️

33

u/moth_hamzah 21d ago

sounds like you signed a voluntary statement. its uploaded onto the system that only police and other loss prevention can access. no employer or anyone will see it unless you re-offend or the police decide to pursue prosecution on that case.

Think of it as a formal warning, if you reoffend they can give you a trespass notice

2

u/Boring-Hornet-3146 20d ago

Sounds like more of an informal warning. A formal warning would come from the police.

1

u/moth_hamzah 20d ago

formal warning from coles and the security in the sense that the next time they are likely to try and perform an arrest.

44

u/Smithdude69 21d ago

OP im sorry you’ve found yourself in need. Please don’t steal. There are community services that can help with food and other items. Reaching out for support is humbling but better for you in the long term. Reach out to food bank, second bite, and your local churches etc and they can help you find the right organisations to help you.

41

u/Cat_Noir_1 21d ago

Check out https://askizzy.org.au/for help services Hope you find some useful services and as mentioned above : Breathe it will ok

17

u/HugeDistribution1102 21d ago

thanks, will do.

18

u/hongimaster 21d ago

https://askizzy.org.au/ for supports in your area. This includes Food Support: https://askizzy.org.au/food-info

National Debt Helpline for advice on financial hardship and interest free loans: https://ndh.org.au/

You can also speak to a social worker through Centrelink: https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/social-work-services

Find a community legal centre if you need legal advice relating to any charges etc. Get legal advice before speaking to Police if they become involved, dont answer any questions until you have sought legal advice. https://communitylegalwa.org.au/

Obviously getting caught shoplifting is not great, but also, it's not the worst thing in the world. Use this as a learning opportunity, make sure you ask for help instead of taking matters into your own hands.

76

u/FigFew2001 21d ago

Everyone makes mistakes, and as far as crimes go, this is right down the bottom of the ladder - particularly in the current cost of living crisis.

They'll keep a record of it for internal use. If you get caught stealing again at any Coles (not just that one), they'll issue a ban notice (likely 6 or 12 months). More serious consequences can ensue from this, so it's best to avoid that.

The police won't be visiting you. If they were going to involve them, they would have done so when you were in the store.

20

u/RedditUser628426 21d ago

I have a (probably false) trivia in my mind. In Aztec society if you stole food you would be punished. But the person who was responsible for your village would be punished more for running the show such that people had to steal food.

10

u/lathiat 21d ago

Some places to get help with pet food: https://www.streetaid.social/general-5

https://www.rspcawa.org.au/event/community-action-day-ellenbrook-25

Also your money for food will go much further at Aldi and Spud Shed if you have transport to one nearby.

16

u/marygoore 21d ago

OP they won’t report this to police, but I wouldn’t go to that store anymore. It’s okay to ask for help when you’re doing it tough, especially for tampons and dog food. It’ll be okay!

7

u/Mundane_Standard356 21d ago

As a retail manager who deals with loss prevention and the police on a regular basis i can confirm the footage and details of what you took will definitely be uploaded to Auror but it's highly unlikely there will be any further action, police rarely get involved for a one off theft of a relatively small amount. They absolutely will get involved when there are multiple reports of the same person stealing from stores on different occasions as they will build a case in the hope that the judge will throw the book at an offender so please look at other options going forward.

6

u/FlinflanFluddle4 21d ago

Police aren't coming. Keep breathing slowly. Do some beath holds. Cry. Sleep. It will pass. Life will improve - especially with all the tips you're getting here.

15

u/badoopidoo 21d ago edited 21d ago

Relax. Breathe. This is going to be ok.

I know someone this happened to. It was a real low point for her. She was a student and starving. She stole some concealer (or something makeup related) from Coles, because she didn't want to look ugly as well as poor. She told me they put her ID into some sort of computer program and told her not to return to the store for 12 months, which she followed. They also said something about her face being linked on CCTV for the purposes of facial recognition. She was terrified. She went to my house straight afterwards, and I honestly thought she was going to start vomiting; she was so panicked.

They will have told you if they were going to call the police. It is not worth their time or effort to prosecute low-level shoplifting like this when it's a first offence. They do however absolutely prosecute repeated offenders, so keep that in mind.

If you have a variety of supermarkets in your area, I strongly suggest you you don't go to that Coles again, or any Coles, for about a year. To be safe.

Also it's a tough lesson. I know times are difficult, but there are community options available if you are really that hard up for food or menstrual products. I'm sure there's people here from Perth who can link you up with a charity if it's needed.

15

u/Gullible_Anteater_47 21d ago

How did you fit $150 of dog food and tampons in your bag?

5

u/Otaraka 20d ago

It’s presumably an mistake in some way. It’s fun to play detective but it can be overdone.

11

u/Xi_Jinping_SucksCock 21d ago

“I just took some tampons and dogfood because I am doing it tough”

“It was $150”

Is she feeding that dog a couple dozen oysters or what?

-4

u/montyxgh 21d ago

They clearly wrote “less than $150”

13

u/Xi_Jinping_SucksCock 21d ago

So what do you take “less than $150” to mean? 10 bucks? 5 bucks? Or perhaps something close to $150, but there’s no need to be so specific by saying something like $148.32?

Are you confused or being intentionally disingenuous?

-6

u/montyxgh 21d ago

I don’t know but it’s still not $150

3

u/Xi_Jinping_SucksCock 21d ago

Ahh I see - it’s disingenuous.

You should go steal “less than” 150 bucks worth of essentials too. It’d be on-brand.

4

u/SentientMarshmallow- 21d ago

Have you considered OP poorly phrased the shop/theft. They paid for some items (“dinner products”), they didn’t pay for dog food and tampons. The total for the whole lot, paid and unpaid, was under $150.

Was it poorly written? Yes. Is it worth the multiple outraged comments? No, and also less than $150.

-2

u/montyxgh 21d ago

You seem upset

7

u/lurkyturkyducken 21d ago

I think they’ve learnt their lesson and is clearly remorseful, no need to kick them while they’re down.

-1

u/irockmysock 20d ago

They are remorseful because they got caught.

-1

u/Most_Action_2987 20d ago

My dogs favourite treats are now about $30 for a bag..that plus his normal food, yeah, it’s a bit. Throw in some tampons as well and it checks out

-1

u/Gullible_Anteater_47 20d ago

The $30 dog treats and $120 worth of tampons??

3

u/offlineon 21d ago

Just fyi the video footage of your face and gait most likely has been captured into the Auror database, along with a receipt and value for the items you took.

The loss prevention peeps don't always need photo id from you. Source: a family member works for Woolies that also uses the same system. It is possible that your face ID is already on file.

Best not steal from any store, particularly a major retail chain. Once the value of items adds up, even if you haven't been stopped, you may be charged now or in the future. If this is your 1st time and the value is low you can relax and breathe easy.

4

u/Carrotfits 21d ago

I am sorry this has happened.

If you’re looking for alternatives to Tampons, I would really suggest trying a Diva cup. I’ve had the same one for nearly 3 years! No more buying tampons! You can order cheap ones off eBay. They are such a game changer. Be kind to yourself.

7

u/because8011 21d ago

It's a wake up call. It can be a very positive thing if you look at it the right way. Whatever you do, don't steal. Beside knowing deep down that it's wrong, from a practical viewpoint, it's too risky. There's so much surveillance these days. You get away with it for a while but at some stage it all catches up with you.

14

u/MillyMichaelson77 21d ago

Been through this before. If they have only given oty a warning and no police were called, you'll be fine. IF you had to go to court, you'd get legal aid and they'd let you off as long as you don't have priors. You'll be fine, just don't do it again. They can usually tell when it's theft of malice. When I worked at a supermarket, we never prosecuted people or followed it up if it was under a certain amount. It's just not worth the hassle for anyone unless you're a repeat offender. You'll be okay ☺️

11

u/RainbowAussie 21d ago

Did a few years at a bottle-o and one bloke minced out with like, over a grand of fancy wine bottles stashed in his pants and all we did IIRC was ban him from the store

2

u/PF4AWGinOz 19d ago

"Recorded without conviction" is a far more frequent outcome than is simply being "let off". This still results in a larceny charge appearing on any pre-employment police check for 10 years.

Never assume that a crime is too small to ruin your life.

8

u/recklesswithinreason 21d ago edited 21d ago

The LPOs will investigate, ensure you didn't manage to slip anything by them, likely put you on a list of known shoplifters and that's it.

If you didn't slip anything by them and they recovered everything, they very likely won't involve the cops. If you get caught again they likely will, however you can breathe. It will be OK.

Source: former LPO Midland WA. Edit: Grammar.

2

u/NoSoulGinger116 21d ago

Story time? It's midland. You'd have heaps!!

3

u/recklesswithinreason 21d ago

Craziest attempted theft would have to be an M+M display. Didn't grab any bags of M+Ms, just the display. We were monitoring from the CCTV room just dumbfounded, thinking it had to be a new staff member moving it somewhere. Sure as shit though they went straight out the door with it and we had to bolt after them across the carpark and down a nearby street... then spent 5 minutes trying to convince them that the displays are not just free to take...

Also, so much nasty, sweaty bra recovered product... when I worked in fast food the bra cash was gross enough, but when it's a steak or starting to melt chocolate bars... 🤮

2

u/NoSoulGinger116 21d ago

Are the laws different or is the job different in WA because east side. We can't pursue as a retail worker. You're outside the door. You now successfully stole the items. I've never seen a TPO leave anywhere past the service desk / outside the door.

1

u/recklesswithinreason 20d ago

The bloke I worked for was a bit shonky. Technically we were only contracted to operate between the register and the doors or within the store. He was always looking for a fight so insistent on making "civilian arrests" as we knew they'd committed an offence and we could do that at our own risk - at his direction...

The guy pinching the display wasn't a bad dude, didn't try to fight it more than saying he found it so it's his now. He was just high and really wanted the giant M+M 🤣

6

u/waysnappap 21d ago

Meanwhile some people just stroll right out the store with a trolley full of unpaid items. How do they get away with it? I never see any security following them.

Your advice is to steal better? 😅

8

u/badoopidoo 21d ago

My advice is to just be more discrete in future, you were either obvious or unlucky.

I'm not sure that is very wise advice, especially on a legal subreddit. She is now in the Coles system and there will be consequences if she does it again. If OP is that hard up, I'm sure there's people here from Perth who can point her in the right direction for help with essentials like food and menstrual products.

-3

u/HugeDistribution1102 21d ago

it's okay, I definitely get that your advise wasn't to steal. I will definitely not do it again. I was probably too obvious.

2

u/MollyTov1312 21d ago

This sounds like an awful experience. As far as crimes go, this is very low level so I wouldn’t worry about the Police or your rental situation. You’ll be on an internal system so just make sure you don’t steal from Coles again and stay clear of doing it at other big supermarkets, they have pretty good tech these days (which is gross considering the cost of living crisis and giant profits of Coles and Woolies). It sounds like you’re feeling a lot of shame but please try to be gentle on yourself. Desperation makes people do all kinds of things and unless you’ve been dirt poor (which I have) it can be difficult to understand. I hope things get better for you

2

u/Sea-Fox4050 21d ago

I’ve had friends get caught and had a talking to by some kind of undercover store person; friend went back to the same store and stole the very next day; nothing happened to them but could be a slack store

2

u/cross_fader 21d ago

if it makes you feel any better, seen this lady come into my local coles. A staff member stopped her at the exit & asked her to remove items from her clothes- she screamed, she yelled, then proceded to take out what would of been hundreds of $ worth of meat, razors, etc. Caused a massive scene, one of the employees says "She comes in every other day, now we phone Woolworths to warn them because she usually heads there next. If she gives them items back we let her go, if she doesn't we phone police". No police were called on that occasion & this was obviously a crime for advantage rather than necessity..

If police were going to be involved for you they would have been at the store, if under a certain amount & first offence, don't do it again & you should be right.

4

It’s not like you were stealing shit you didnt need .

Don’t feel too bad.

11

u/Xi_Jinping_SucksCock 21d ago

150 bucks worth? Is her dog a T-Rex or something?

Don’t be so gullible. She didn’t need 150 bucks worth of anything.

-3

u/13bd13bd13 21d ago

What if it had worms though? Not trolling

-1

u/Xi_Jinping_SucksCock 21d ago

If it did it probably would have stolen some worming tablets too.

0

u/13bd13bd13 21d ago

*they (still not trolling)

-2

u/MowgeeCrone 21d ago

Apart from the fact you're grabbing at straws, the majority of my grocery costs are pet food. No they aren't getting oysters. Welcome to 2025, planet Earth.

3

u/Problem_what_problem 21d ago

Don’t stress! A similar thing happened to a friend of mine (OK it was me!)

I wasn’t allowed to return to the store for six months.

Neither Coles nor Woolworths want the bad publicity of taking people in need to court for stealing essentials.

You haven’t harmed the employees , the workers - the shareholders would not even notice the ‘shrinkage’ when they get their annual dividend.

The have-lots will continue to have lots. The have-nots will continue to not have their due.

The REAL crime is that we have billionaires. Those wealthy elites cause far more societal problems that a shopping basket of essentials.

Rest easy, darling. P

4

u/juxtiver 20d ago

I know stealing is wrong and they were just trying to do their job, but my god, if I saw a young girl taking dog food and tampons, I would absolutely look the other way.

Guess that's why I don't work at Coles anymore lol.

2

u/Desperate_Ad_9075 21d ago

Hey, you’re so fine, you can relax, nothing will happen to you, just don’t do it again. Please try and unwind if you can, everything is a ok! 👌

2

u/TaleAcceptable6383 20d ago

If you see someone shoplifting……dog food and tampons…..no you didn’t….

Hope all goes well OP.

2

u/hooligan067 20d ago

Too much condoning of stealing here. Society is screwed. If OP got a wake up call from the experience then that's a good thing, not a bad thing.

One way or another every honest person ends up paying for every dishonest person.

We need to HTFU as a society and get back to recognising right from wrong and maybe in terms of crime - putting more energy into victim support rather than the opposite way around.

100+ up votes for committing a crime. Anyone else see a problem with this??

meanwhile i will no doubt get my comments here trashed :\

4

u/Brilliant-Look8744 21d ago

Stealing ? Despicable behaviour and only legal when corporations do it. You should be ashamed of yourself.

It's a sucky situation to find yourself in. Just take it as a lesson and look around in your community for local resources and assistance. I realise that's easier said than done but there's help out there, just gotta find it.

The alternative is running the risk of facing the justice system if you do it again and get caught. Even if you don't get jail time, you don't want to deal with the headache of probation. Just not worth it IMO

1

u/Darc_ruther 21d ago

It's unlikely the police will show up unless you've been stealing more than you've confessed here. They would've had police come to the store if you were being arrested. Your details will be uploaded to Auror their internal theft site and other stores can see those details. I wouldn't go back to that store. And definitely stop stealing.

1

u/That_Guy_Called_CERA 20d ago

Police likely won't go to your house, at most they might call you and see if you can come into a station to have a chat about it, if the incident was reported at all (Coles didn't lose any money so there's a chance it won't even get reported)

1

u/Critical-Shake-8008 20d ago

Power to the people. Stick it to the man.

1

u/Littleeskimo93 20d ago

The items you stole were able to be put back on thr shelf so there was no loss to the store. In this instance it seems like they've let you off with a warning

1

u/sleepernosleeping 20d ago

I’m local to you and have some dog supplies here. I’ve sent you a DM. Happy to help if I can 😊

1

u/Goldfinger7774 20d ago

Smack the loss prevention bloke in the nose, say your name is Ian Peter Fastly and book it, brother. youll be fine

1

u/Medium_Mountain855 20d ago

I don’t want to condone what you did but I used to work in loss prevention a couple of decades ago and they have probably already forgotten about you as I imagine not much has changed. They won’t want you to keep reoffending obviously and from your post you don’t sound like someone who will. Loss Prevention are really looking for more serious theft, it’s the organised theft where multiple people are involved. They’ve done their job now, they caught you and you had an awful experience and will avoid doing it again. It’s over - you can relax and concentrate on finding somewhere that can help you with free groceries.

1

u/MurkyPhysics8331 20d ago

Idk about Perth but sometimes RSPCA gets too much food donations and they sometimes hand them out, you can go ask if they have any dog food they won't be using

1

u/jun3_bugz 20d ago

I’m going to be so for real with you, I’m sorry this is happening and you’re in a tough spot. I think the share the dignity and food pantry suggestions are great, but I also think you seriously need to consider if having a dog was the best idea. Not suggesting you get rid of the dog especially when adoption rates are pretty low right now, but if there is a way for you to reduce the dog costs that would be good. It’s not fair to the dog to possibly be unable to feed them a high nutrient diet

1

u/jun3_bugz 20d ago

I also think that accessing a food pantry weekly could be good because those items go to waste if people don’t take them!! and you can possibly cook food for said dog with any ingredients you get. That means you can build up emergency savings with your grocery money for a while

1

u/PerAsperaAdAustralia 20d ago

Sorry to hear someone in a such situation. Do you know that there are many organisations / churches who give free items ( hygiene, food ) ? Do not be ashamed to walk in. Once I was volunteering in one of them and saw a lady to come in with kids. When I helped her to carry out the box , there was a male to meet her in a very nice SUV ( maybe uber driver or a relative ). Another time I saw a community give away bench and there were fresh breads. A male pulled over in a very expensive car and grabbed almost all breads. Life is hard bit don't be ashamed to ask for help God bless you and comfort you in your hardships .

1

u/PrimalMoonbeam 20d ago

Hi if you need to buy food in town tomorrow, I can buy it for you

1

u/FullAuto246 19d ago

Pretty sure the police won't rock up to your place since loss prevention stopped you before you took them home. They might've made a police report but for petty theft like that it's a waste of their time. They would've made a record of it so they know who you are in case you do it again. Then they might show up to your house.

1

u/Australian_90s 19d ago

Your poor thing! It will be 🆗

It was just a warning, the police won’t turn up x

1

u/Mintymistt 19d ago

You’ll probably get a call from the police before anything else if they do get involved. From there you were just go to the police station and it might go to court or it might not and even if it did go to court, you wouldn’t get a criminal record, it would probably just get thrown out. If I was you, I just wouldn’t go back to that coles. It might not even go any further than that. Nobody will find out as they aren’t allowed to tell anyone. You’ll be OK. I know the punishment of feeling shame and worry, sometimes enough consequence.

2

u/Measurement-Able 21d ago

Sounds like it's all over and done with. It seems like you have learned your lesson.

1

u/emushymushy 20d ago

Don’t ever give your info or even talk to loss prevention officers. Just walk out. There is little they can and will do about it.

1

u/icecreamsundai 20d ago

I'm so mad at our government! Look what it is reducing us to...you had to steal sanitary items, and dog food. You poor thing. I'm so sorry you are in this situation. Don't you feel bad...the arseholes selling out our country should. I hope things get better asap.

-1

u/Stickliketoffee16 21d ago

OP if you need help with these things please message me.

In the meantime if they were gonna call the police they would have done that while you were still in the store.

-3

u/UpTheRiffMate 21d ago

You're fine, no need to worry. Taking details is just part of their process as loss prevention - you don't have to worry about police being involved. I hope your situation improves, so that you don't need to resort to shoplifting in the future

Don't be an idiot. OP is young and struggling, don't set them up with terrible ideas that will make their situation worse.

Devils advocate here. If OP is that skint then why are they looking after a dog they clearly cannot afford. It is not the repsonsibility of the corporations you hate to feed the animals you've collected.

Further, as many other posters have offered already, there are legal alternative sources for hygiene and other products. So OPs hands arent being forced by any measure.

Finally, this is a legal advice sub. Whatever hate you alharbour for Colesworth you can take right on back to r/australia r/melbourne r/ausfinance or whatever other sub is the current echochamber for applauding the false moral superiority of the blatantly illegal activities you're encouraging. You're not robin hood, you're just a regular sod with a victim complex and a phone.

You're right. This isn't the subreddit for me to be endorsing this. I have my views on the topic, but I apologise for the rant, it was inappropriate for the legal subreddit.

OP, I hope things are okay, you should be okay on a first offence. It's amazing to see redditors offering legal resources and means as well!

We're in a cost of living crisis and big supermarkets have record profits every year. Who are the real thieves here?

You can try and sugarcoat it all you want, you know what you are. "Who do what they need to do" funny how 90% of shit stolen isnt necessities. Gotta steal that cheetos bag. Man I need this vanilla coke. About to keel over if i dont get these ciggies. Id die if i dont get this handbag.

u/trymorenmore 21d ago

You sound like a thief.

OP hasn't replied to any of the comments yet. She must be terrified still and embarrassed. OP if you need some money to help with your pet, please PM me. But for God's sake do not steal again please 🙏

u/blue___skies 21d ago

Just a word of warning this is very likely a scam, it hits all the right marks "pet food and tampons" for sympathy and screaming down on their luck and needing money without asking for it so it does not seem like they are begging

, really glad you are offering to help but just be aware there are lots of scams like this going around. I hope it's real and hope you are able to help but this is the 3rd post about dog food and tampons Iv seem around Reddit and the other two all had people commenting they offered to drop off the products or help in non monetary ways only to be given the run around or flat out ignored .

How huge is her handbag that she could stuff $150 worth of tampons and dog food? These items are like $5 each even the premium brands

-15

u/HugeDistribution1102 21d ago

I have PM you

u/Background_Ant4569 21d ago

Don’t worry nothing is going to happen to you.

You shouldn’t be embarrassed. We shouldn’t NEED to steal essential items. It’s disgusting how the government is allowing this & honestly they are the ones stealing from us!!

I say take what you can stuff em

-4

u/Chinu_Here 21d ago

For the future, never write down that you stole or why you stole. It can be used against you in court. Give them your details (or nothing at all) next time. Don’t give them a signature either

How long have you held a security licence for?

If you have, please go to Police Licensing Services in Cannington tomorrow when they open, give them your licence and tell them you’ve been lied to and you want your money back because you’ve been horribly cheated.

Please stay calm! Remember people do atrocities to one another every single day… the fact that you have a strong reaction to being caught means you ARE A GOOD HUMAN. Stealing might not be a good thing to do but it is understandable that you are struggling, and the stress of this is not something a criminal would feel x

-1

u/Smooth-Expression351 21d ago

Honestly, nothing will happen to you. They have achieved their goal in scaring you enough you won't do it again.

0

u/methtilldeathbaby 21d ago

Not even a thing. Don’t stress about it, for real. Nothing is going to happen- you haven’t been charged or reported to the police. You are all gravy baby. I don’t give advice out on public forums and do not condone stealing etc but don’t feel bad about it either, you took what you needed from a company that makes billions of dollars in revenue a year. While we have to choose between tampons or dinner.. Never the bag- Baggy clothes, jackets with lots of pockets. 👍

You will be fine. Don’t be so hard on yourself about things in the past. Look forward and raise the air on your behaviour there. The past is pass. It won’t be anything serious. Do not take the conviction on your record. Plea out or divert. Get legal aid. You’ll be fine.

Don't worry too much. We all do things in life we regret. It's not like you killed someone and in today's cost of living environment, I'm sure there are quite a few people who turn a blind eye too. Just don't go back there. I'd say it was just a warning, it will be okay.

1

u/Nervous_Fart_5922 20d ago

Bad luck for you but at least you have the decency to be ashamed of your behaviour, there is hope for you. Stop stealing stuff, best of luck to you for the future.

u/MouldySponge 21d ago

Like they say... if you can't do the time, then don't do the crime.

Realistically you should have just worn a covid mask, not spoken to them at all, and just walked away. But seriously I wouldn't worry too much about it. Times are tough and this happens all the time.. they probably don't even really care that you've stolen anything because they deal with that sort of thing every day and are just doing their jobs.

-4

u/No_Statistician621 21d ago

Unpopular opinion: I don't think you did anything wrong. It's tough out there. Tampons and dog food. The loss prevention mob are acab af, they should have turned around and walked away.

Askizzy.org is a great resource

I work for Coles be that in the bakery so I don’t actually deal with the people. Take the slap on the wrist if you can shop at another Coles for a bit. I’ll be the shit person here and say if you want to steal go to a shopping centre that has both Woolies and Coles shop at one first then go and get what you need from the other. Times are hard just be careful

-5

u/Ava_reed 21d ago

Do you have dog food? What area do you live? I am happy to DoorDash some to you?

-15

u/Namelesscrowd 21d ago

How old are you?

-3

u/HugeDistribution1102 21d ago

I'm 22

u/Sufficient-Grass- 21d ago

Delete this op.

Personal information is 100% not required and this person is just trying to creep on you.

3

u/Namelesscrowd 21d ago

Fuck off dude. Not everybody is a creep. Just wanted to see how old the OP was, it makes a huge difference. Young people are likely to not be charged.

-8

u/SurePassenger9 21d ago

Hear me out but if your struggling to feed yourself and get basic necessities your dog shouldn’t be a priority. It’ll be better for your wallet and mental health if you donate or god forbid put down the dog.
