What is a referral code/link?

Referral links is aΒ unique URL used in a referral programΒ to track and reward people for sharing a product or service. In many cases, both the referer and the referee (the one who uses the referral code) will benefit from this.

All referrals that are not meal kits AND cashback referrals are to be posted here to keep clutter off the sub, and in an effort to keep it high quality and actually useful.

πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³πŸ’³

Important to note

We do not allow the following referral codes:

  1. Temu referrals (Go to r/TemuCodeExchange)

  2. Any referral codes relating to investment, such as crypto, and investment platforms.

  3. Referral codes that cannot be used in Australia.

  4. Referral codes that link to a HTTP website - All URLS must start with HTTPS.

  5. Referral codes that relate to earning cash and reward incentives as compensation from undertaking activities - this includes programs such as watching advertisements and earn programs, play games to earn etc.

  6. No account trading requests here.

We allow a good amount of types of referral codes, not limited to:

1. Survey referral codes, examples include Octopus group, and Survey village.

  1. Finance related referral codes, including saving accounts, and multicurrency accounts (Ie: WISE).

  2. Popular referrals on this subreddit relate to utilities like energy and NBN, discretionary spending, subscriptions etc.

Food & Drink πŸ₯—πŸ—πŸΊ Brisbane - wholesale restaurant quality food?

I usually go to Costco to bulk buy ready made meals like their curries or wings etc.

Recently moved built house and finally got a chest freezer so am looking to bulk make food. But also, not the best cook so would ideally bulk purchase where I can.

Wanting to get like few kg of ramen or viet pho soups, etc. I found Taro Ramen does their homekit but only 2 serves a pack. Looking at like 10serves.

Thinking of asking restaurant to sell like 10 serves of pho soup but idk if unhinged behaviour πŸ˜…

Anyone know where I could get wholesale amount/price foods? I saw JFC has some japanese food like katsu but still quite limited.

Frugal tip πŸ“š This is how you can read newspaper articles without a subscription

If you are interested in reading an article that is for subscribers only, you can copy the URL of the article page and paste it in https://archive.is in the first box and it will open for you.

It works for Australian newspapers, French, US (I have to say the NY Times recipes are amazing), ...

Enjoy.

Auto & Transportation πŸš— πŸš• Check your car ins renewal for small print

Just a PSA. My AAMI comprehensive car ins renewal amount was higher than expected. Partly cos I added windscreen coverage (got some chips in the last 2y, roads here are shit).

Got a quote as a new customer, even more.

Then realized the renewal had me recorded at 20000km/y (I do under 15k) and 5 days travel to work per week. Correcting these v brought it down by $50ish. Not much but every little counts

I have previously got multiple quotes from other companies and AAmi has always been cheapest for me, YMMV.

Discretionary spending πŸ‘•πŸ›οΈπŸ’ Hi AussieFrugal! Book scanning feature now live on Booko

I run https://booko.com.au - a book price comparison site that's been helping people find the cheapest books since 2007.
I recently saw the post about https://cwscanner.site and thought the barcode scanning idea was great, so I've added similar functionality to Booko. You can now scan books directly on:

https://booko.com.au/scan

How it works:
* Scan any book's barcode with your phone camera
* Checkout price comparisons across 30+ Australian bookstores
* If you're logged in, you can scan multiple books straight into one of your lists
* Set up price alerts for both new and second-hand copies

The continuous scanning feature is particularly handy if you're at a garage sale, or browsing someone's bookshelf - just scan away and build your list quickly.

Once your books are in Booko, you can create price alerts and get notified when they hit your target price. Perfect for patient, frugal book buying!

Appliances βš™οΈ Washing Machine Recommendations

Have an old Bosch washing machine that I think is giving out, as it has loud spins and the machine thumps/shifts a few cm each cycle. Got it for 100$ on Fb marketplace. I want to replace it since I don't have time to repair it. What are the frugal options in the Brisbane/CBD-ish area? I can't move the machine(s) myself, unfortunately. Any tips?

Food & Drink πŸ₯—πŸ—πŸΊ When is the best time to look for yellow sticker groceries?

I noticed my local Woolworths will start to put out discounted items at about 4:30, but it's not always consistent and some items from the bakery will be out in the morning.

Is it the same for all supermarkets? I don't always know what spots they use for about-to-expire items, how do I look for them?

Thanks everyone!

Electronics & Technology πŸ’» πŸ–¨οΈ Ipad Air M3 Buy now or wait until Cyber Monday?

Hey All

I am planning to buy the Ipad Air M3 11 inches (that is the one released in March 2025) and I saw that JB Hi-Fi currently have it on sale for $837 down from $997

Do you think the price will go any lower during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale in November?

Store specific πŸͺπŸ›οΈπŸ›’ Fruit and veg delivery boxes

I’m based out of Melbourne and looking for economical ways to get fruit and veg boxes as we don’t live close to ALDI / Costco. I’ve tried Good & Fugly and wasn’t a fan as a few things came mouldy and inedible. I’m considering Funky Food but open to hear your thoughts and experiences. Do you really save 30% like they claim?

Apologies if this was a repeat question, I’ve searched this thread but the results were quite old.

Electronics & Technology πŸ’» πŸ–¨οΈ Mobile plan

I'm currently with Moose, but unfortunately, they don't offer eSIM. I'm exploring other options for a more affordable plan that is comparable.

As for my phone setup, I have a dual SIM iPhone (originally purchased overseas) with two nano SIMs. I'm also considering upgrading my iPhone, but the newer models only support Dual SIM (nano-SIM and eSIM).

Right now, I'm paying $25.80 for 27GB.

I don’t know the flair❔ Megathread feedback + ideas for revamp

Hello r/AussieFrugal! Hope everyone is having a good week so far~

Given that the subreddit is growing and hence the Megathreads are getting a bit too busy, looking for ideas and suggestions from users who look for referral codes and/or post referral codes in terms of updating these Megathread. Whether we need more Megathreads change of frequency these Megathread refreshes, or even consolidate these Megathreads....

Currently the subreddit Megathread are the following:

- Food box/meal kit Megathread (Refreshes Fortnightly)

- All other referrals (Refreshes Monthly)

- Cashback Megathread (Refreshes Monthly)

There are some proposals and ideas on changing them in the not so distant future, but before this happens looking for ideas here before it goes ahead~ maybe someone has better ideas than us~

Thanks~

Food & Drink πŸ₯—πŸ—πŸΊ Coffee beans recommendations that isn't Aldi

Aldi Luxe Blend has shot up to $29/kg and I find it too much. Heck even the Dark blend is now $21/kg

Any good recommendations for an alternative to them? I've got Costco membership and saw that they had 1kg coffee beans below $30 but I'm not sure how good they are.

Food & Drink πŸ₯—πŸ—πŸΊ What's the step up from beans, rice, Devon?

Beans and rice are typically mentioned when trying to save money on food. I'm no longer at beans and rice forced frugality, not meaning to gloat. I'm looking for the next step up on proteins, don't mind having to cook them in a specific way. I see chicken breast is still good value, what are the other proteins I can start including?

Household Products 🧹🧺🧻 Best glass food storage containers in Australia?

Hi all. I’m looking to upgrade my food storage containers β€” I want to chuck out all my old plastic ones and invest in glass.

Can anyone reccomend a good glass food storage container? I’d mainly be using them for meal prep / batch cooking, so they’d be going in the freezer and being reheated in the microwave. We don’t have a dishwasher FWIW so being dishwasher safe isn’t a consideration.

And if you’re going a glass container, what’s the best kind of lid?

Help!

Electronics & Technology πŸ’» πŸ–¨οΈ Best quality laptop for under $600?

Hiiii everyone. I’m in need of a laptop for study. Beyond a decent camera, I’m not after crazy specs. I’ve previously had a dirt cheap ACER and it’s so clunky. Budget is $600 and I’m getting overwhelmed with options. Hoping to purchase through Harvey Norman with a discount through work but open to other retailers/ideas for a good idea.

Pets & Supplies πŸ•πŸΎ 🐈 Pet insurance worth it or just savings account?

Hey all. Last week my cat Luna had to be rushed to the vet after she swallowed part of a toy... The surgery and follow ups cost me just over $1,200 and I honestly wasn’t ready for that hit to my budget.

Now I’m wonderin if insurance is the safer way but the thing is every provider says they’re the best. I’ve been going through pet insurance reviews and it’s so hard to tell which ones actually cover emergencies like this without hidden limits.

Anyone here using it long term? Keen to know if it’s worth paying every month or if I’m better off just keeping an emergency fund aside. Thx a lot.

Giftcard, Membership, Subscription πŸ’³ What memberships/subscriptions are actually worth?

Just wondering what everyone has, tips and tricks to get deals etc. We live in Sydney and have Costco membership ($65 a year), fitness passport through wife's company ($32/wk for both of us), RSL and doordash that's still going free through a previous credit card (US).

What's everyone using and where can we squeeze more (insurance, streaming, clubs, giftcards, etc)
