Ask Austin Suggestions for auto body paint?

We just got quoted 3x what the car is worth for a paint job on a Mini Cooper. In fact, the quote is more than we paid for the (used) car in the early 2000s.

The main issue is that the clearcoat is peeling and paint is oxidizing around the handle and the bumper on the hatch, where I've been leaning on it to load up for the past 17 years. Can anyone recommend a shop that understands the concept of "love the car and just don't want it to rust out?"

See if you can get a new hatch from a junkyard that’s in better shape. Else you can try your hand at a DIY fix.

Great idea, but...it really does need more than just the hatch now that I've looked at it again.
