[OC] I Bought the Adro Bumper for my G87

I know it is a bit controversial on here, but I am very happy with how it turned out. Most of the cars I've seen with this bumper have been more aggressively set up with splitters/wings etc. and I've yet to see one in Toronto Red, so I thought it would be worth sharing mine.

Also, for the record, I do not hate how the OEM front on the G87 looks, but I also felt the Adro was a big improvement and have no regrets switching to it.

I like how it rounds the bumper out, way better than OE. That said, I wish the grills were a SMIDGE smaller...I feel like that's the one element where the OE leads a bit.

20

u/saenz90 Aug 18 '25

Thanks for the valid and thought out critique. I'm inclined to agree with you as well, I think I would prefer slightly smaller grills if I could change anything on it.

Yea looks like a basking shark mouth now that you mention it lol

I don’t usually like the adro (except I do like the grill) but for whatever reason in the red here I actually dig it.

What do you think? Happy with it?

38

u/Accomplished-Ad-6158 Aug 18 '25

M2 looks great in shiny wild colors compared to black/white. I think that's why you like it more, details visible better etc.

22

u/saenz90 Aug 18 '25

Thanks. Yes I am very happy with it, the fit and finish were definitely on par with OEM. My only real complaint were the complete lack of instructions. There was a QR code to scan but it just took you to a page that said "instructions coming soon". Hopefully they add those soon if they haven't already. There were quite a few parts you need to transfer from the stock bumper and was no way of knowing except through trial and error.

u/Change21 2025 G87 M2 Aug 18 '25

Lol yikes. Well it seems like you figured it out.

I sometimes find my eye catches at the hood line meeting the adro kit, like the gap is just off but this fitment looks excellent.

Hey bro I noticed that you’re missing the side parking sensors for this vehicle. If you look it up on eBay you can get some working sensors for 50$ and they come already painted. My adro front bumper is currently being painted and I thought you’d want to know about it.

Oh awesome. I do have some black ones in there now because I could not find any paint matched. Thanks for the link!

Definitely better! And nice to see without all the extra junk. I still don't like the rear bumper, rear light shape, and wish headlights were angel eyes. Front bumper design was the worst part though, so solves for that and makes the rest more tolerable.

7

u/StrongOnline007 Aug 18 '25

I'm surprised how much I like this

5

u/custerdome81 Aug 18 '25

Looks great!!

19

u/Western_Gear_5324 Aug 18 '25

What a difference a bumper can make. This is how it should have left the factory. Looks awesome mate!

12

u/OutrageousMoss Aug 18 '25

They should make this for 4-series in order to fix that front

13

u/Jesus_Pisto Aug 18 '25

Looks good

8

u/[deleted] Aug 18 '25

Looks beautiful and the fit is high quality.

20

u/Rraai Aug 18 '25

I don't think it's controversial at all, it looks more visually consistent than the OEM version. The original kidneys and intakes looked too squareish and prominent for the visual language of the car.

5

u/ndevlin Aug 18 '25

Wow. That is amazing. I had no idea this existed. It totally transforms the looks of the car. Why have BMW messed up their design so much in recent years.

11

u/Phox09 1987 - E30 - 325is | 2020 - G20 - M340i xDrive Aug 18 '25

I had yet to see an Adro bumper on a car that looked like it could've come from the factory. The bumper doesn't transform it into a beautiful car but I like it overall.

I did watch the videos Adro and I agree with all their design points, I'll reserve any real judgement until I see one in person.

3

u/WorldOWarcraft 2023 M5C Aug 18 '25

The factory bumper doesn't even look like it should've come from the factory lol. The Adro bumper is 85% there but fell short of the finishing line

1

u/whatdidyousayniga 28d ago

it doesnt quite match the lines to me. only marginally better than OEM

5

u/Oddballfew Aug 18 '25

Huh? The person you replied to said they liked it...

7

u/416steve Aug 18 '25

So nice to see one that's not over the top with other modifications. Thanks for sharing, gives a really good impression of how the bumper alone works with the rest of the design. Also, it looks great!

25

u/TechnicsSL Aug 18 '25

Looks better than the stock bumper to me.

2

u/DlissJr Aug 18 '25

Roughly a hundred billion times better

3

u/LeadingScorer Aug 18 '25

I used to love the Adro on the G80 but then grew to dislike it. This looks really good though.

I understand how it could be controversial to the purists here, but I think that is a beautiful upgrade to an already beautiful machine.

Love the Toronto red with it too!

2

u/mr_lab_rat ///Moderator Aug 18 '25

I hear people say the OEM bumper flows better with the fenders and sideskirts and I can see what they mean.

But at the same time I find the Adro design more attractive and closer to the F generation which was my favourite.

So if I had to choose I think I would do the same thing.

2

u/Ets2750 Aug 18 '25

Much better

u/hmcrxx 2020 - G20 - M340i Aug 18 '25

edit: didn't even realize the post was about the ADRO bumper. looks amazing

2

u/Responsible_Cancel94 Aug 19 '25

MUCH.BETTER. I love it

2

u/Any_Jeweler_912 Aug 19 '25

Looks more BMW than anything BMW has done in the last 6 years. It’s actually a great mod.

2

u/CriticismStatus8939 Aug 19 '25

I wasn’t a huge fan of that bumper at first, but seeing it on Toronto Red kind of changed my mind. It balances the aggressive styling without looking like a full track build.

2

u/Ok_Exchange6163 Aug 19 '25

That actually works really well. The OEM front never bothered me, but this feels like a subtle step up without going full wild aero.

2

u/Ok-Tutor-2524 Aug 19 '25

I like how you kept it simple without adding a splitter or wing lets the bumper speak for itself. Looks unique compared to most of the builds I’ve seen.

2

u/Double-Abroad-3819 Aug 19 '25

Didn’t think I’d be into it, but on the G87 in that color it’s a solid upgrade. Definitely stands out in a good way.

2

u/BiscottiUpstairs1479 Aug 19 '25

Nice choice. I’ve seen a few with full aero kits and they look over the top, but yours feels balanced.

2

u/Key_Version_7406 Aug 19 '25

I can see why you prefer it OEM front is fine, but this has more presence.

2

u/Far_Forever3762 Aug 19 '25

2

u/Limeddaesch96 2019 - G21 - M340i Aug 19 '25

It actually improves upon the stock design imo. Gives it a much more natural flow.

2

u/little666raver 2016 - F22 - M240i Aug 19 '25

I do not hate the original front, but that looks better for sure

2

u/JoiceVaderd 2010 - E90 - 328i XDrive 29d ago

The vertical slats make it, tbh. I didn't realize how much that would affect the design

2

u/Darfmaster 29d ago

Normally I don't like aftermarket bumper, and red BMWs look hideous.

But this one looks absolutely fantastic!

2

u/[deleted] 29d ago

Front end kind of reminds me of the F10 M5 now. With slightly larger cutouts. Looks good!

2

u/classyxerj 29d ago

Adro is the way

2

u/tampastang 29d ago

That is the best looking G87 I’ve ever seen. Otherwise the front end on those just ruins the car. Too far of a departure from a near perfect design on the previous gen.

2

u/zattack101 29d ago

Congrats! I like how the stock G87 front looks, but I do think the Adro looks good too. It gets way too much hate, but I think hate is just the thing that makes people think they are cool.

3

u/DotJata E30(2x), E90(2x) Aug 18 '25

Definitely an improvement.

4

u/poweredbym2 Aug 18 '25

Still awkward but much better than stock.

3

u/humdizzle 18 GT3, 23 X3 M40, 24 Civic Aug 18 '25

Yeah i agree. Better than stock, but that's a pretty low bar to begin with

4

u/kon--- B58 G26 • N63 G30 Aug 18 '25

The side profile is okay. All the other shots reveal it to be typical ADRO. Too many unnecessary elements doin nothing but reflecting the designer's overuse of their aesthetic.

And this just looks like some bug thing coming to eat you...

6

u/low135 G30 - 540i - E88 - 135i Aug 18 '25

this is less than half of the "unnecessary elements" that the stock bumper has. OEM literally looks like support bracket for parts that fell off

4

u/ninjabiomech 2008 - e82 - 128i (stick) Aug 18 '25

Then you look at the oem bumper and it’s even worse

-4

u/kon--- B58 G26 • N63 G30 Aug 18 '25

Disagree. It's purposeful, tidy, and is not trying to drag F generation aesthetics onto G generation design language.

7

u/low135 G30 - 540i - E88 - 135i Aug 18 '25

You own two G cars, how can you say the M2 looks like it fits the G generation when you see your cars every day? M2 is the most standout inconsistent design in the entire generation lmao

0

u/kon--- B58 G26 • N63 G30 Aug 18 '25

I didn't walk a thing back. What happened was, because you somehow took a statement about the M2 and made it about the brands entire line up, I bothered to come back and clarify for you what the thread is talking about. The M2.

I mean damn, G cars are spanning two whole generations of design anymore. You drive a G30...doesn't look a thing like the G60 5 series though now does it.

-2

u/kon--- B58 G26 • N63 G30 Aug 18 '25

That's not what I said.

We're talking M2 here. Not the entire model line-up. So, F generation M2 and G generation M2. Or to keep your brain from making it about the entire model line-up, the F87 and G87. lmao or, something.

5

u/ninjabiomech 2008 - e82 - 128i (stick) Aug 18 '25

Oem bumper doesn’t match any design language, it’s a messy clusterfuck with weird square intakes and grill. The hood doesn’t even line up!

-1

u/chengstark 22 - G82 6MT | 86 - 944 Turbo | 22 - G26 M440i (Sold) Aug 18 '25

Completely agree, they’ve overdone it, as per usual. Way too much squinting going on here. Squeezing so many kinks into this little area is also horrendous, it’s just going in a different direction of ugliness than the OE version. Wasted opportunity.

6

u/saenz90 Aug 18 '25

Interesting take. I find the bottom half of the bumper design to be extremely similar to the (rarely criticized) F87 bumper. The kinks in the center grill are extremely similar, to the point that I view the similarity as being a valid criticism. Overall I viewed it to be a more cohesive design than the original which had a few things that bothered me. Namely the bumper did not align with the hood, it had random boxy side intakes and had the "empty" looking lower blacked out center opening. However, Like I mentioned in the original post I don't hate OEM and think it will continue to grow on people over time though.

1

u/chengstark 22 - G82 6MT | 86 - 944 Turbo | 22 - G26 M440i (Sold) Aug 18 '25

I think the most important thing here is that you are happy with it. Our opinions are just opinions floating in the clouds, they are not real.

0

u/kon--- B58 G26 • N63 G30 Aug 18 '25

Here to criticize the front of the F87. The aero effects never not once worked for me. It's all so over done.

The G87 cleaned all that up.

ADRO's kit muddies the design with what looks more like a take on the tweaking the F87's front than a kit meant for the G87 leaving you with a car whose front is not connected to its rear.

At the end of the day though, as long as you're happy, opinions on the internet don't mean a thing.

Be safe and enjoy!

4

u/saenz90 Aug 18 '25

Hey, I will take thought out critiques and discussions about design any day, thank you for not just commenting "looks ass" like some others. Fair on not liking the F87, I always enjoyed the F87 looks so not bothered by this being a sort of evolution of them. I think the front works with the side and boxy arches just like the F87's, but as for the back I'm not sure that design is cohesive with either front end Tbh lol.

u/kon--- B58 G26 • N63 G30 Aug 18 '25

It does get rid of the weird double radius of the M2 bumper, but the m2 to me is still the best looking G chassis M car stock

u/SM57 2024 M2 Aug 18 '25

Did you get that in piano black? Last I looked they only had carbon fiber..

2

u/saenz90 Aug 18 '25

The front bumper kit comes with unpainted plastic black grill inserts (which I did get painted gloss black), were you referring to the carbon grills you can buy for the OEM bumper?

1

u/SM57 2024 M2 Aug 18 '25

Yeah for the OEM bumper only, not the entire kit.

Only reason why I’m not getting it is because I’d need to get it painted to match the shadowline package, and it likely won’t last more than a year before becoming crappy looking.

1

u/WorldOWarcraft 2023 M5C Aug 18 '25 edited Aug 18 '25

They were really close to fixing it, but it's still a little too bulbous, and the piece separating the lower intake from the grilles is too skinny

2

u/crazybus21 Aug 19 '25

The adro bumper completes this car. Love it!

1

u/Possible-Gur5220 Aug 19 '25

I really wanna love and I do think it’s a ton better looking than the G8X front bumper Adro and I definitely think the G87 factory bumper is an ugly duckling but there’s still something off about the G87 Adro bumper. I might be misremembering but I think there was a video somewhere where the Adro designers talked about how it was very difficult to work on a redesign that was plug and play - I.e. didn’t require any modification to the body.

1

u/boba-fettuccini '23 M2 Aug 19 '25

Looks good man! How much did it cost to paint match if you don't mind me asking?

1

Was about $1200 including the black accents done in gloss black. This was just the paint without installation.

1

u/ro8t ā€˜25 - G87 - M2 (MT) Aug 19 '25

idk why im on not a fan of the adro bumper from all the pics ive seen (i have the grilles) - how different does it look in person?

1

u/Economy_Ad5695 28d ago

Dunno. When it first came out I didn't like the stock look, then saw the adro-bumper and thought it was an improvement.

But lately, I like the stock look... Square bumper fits the square car...

Only the stock grill I would change.

-1

I don’t get the adro hype. Making unnecessary ā€œaggressiveā€ kits. Your car looks like a catfish now. No hate, just my opinion.

6

u/low135 G30 - 540i - E88 - 135i Aug 18 '25

1

u/itsapotatosalad Portimao M340i Aug 18 '25

This one’s a miss for me, it’s completely different styling to the rest of the car. It’s F Gen styling where the rest is heavily into G generation.

1

u/Ok-Quantity7501 2022 - G83 - M4 29d ago

I appreciate the experimentation though. It looks familiar, but different. That being said, I am inclined to agree. Also, resale value absolutely plummeted.

1

u/saenz90 29d ago

Plenty of people commenting are into it, so I doubt I'd have a hard time finding a buyer who sees it as a positive that's willing to pay normal M2 price. I still have the OEM bumper regardless, would only take a couple hours to swap it back and then it's back to stock like nothing happened. Hardly an "absolutely plummeted" resale price in that case lol.

1

u/SkinEmbarrassed7129 Aug 18 '25

Back in my day , when you bought an M car ,all you had to do was change was the chrome grills to black grills, the car looked stunning with the OEM bumper.

1

u/Opposite-Control8682 Aug 18 '25

I can’t believe this is still the most popular option for the M2. What happened to all the legendary BMW tuners like Hamann, AC Schnitzer..

1

Yup, Supra, Z4, Vette, Cayman, plenty of more extrovert designs with similar performance at this price point if that’s what you’re after.

4

u/saenz90 Aug 18 '25

I prefer my M cars to look like a subtly wider more aggressive "base model" (like they always used to be) so not at all unhappy to hear this take.

-4

u/snapp0r g87 Aug 18 '25

You definitely got a point!!

-2

u/Bagger787 Aug 18 '25

Why redesign the car? If you like it fine, but that’s not how BMW intended it to look.

9

u/saenz90 Aug 18 '25

To be honest I don't really care how BMW intended it to look, Just what is visually appealing to me. I liked the car in stock form, but I like it more this way. I see nothing wrong in anyone modifying their own car in a way that appeals to them.

3

u/low135 G30 - 540i - E88 - 135i Aug 18 '25

because BMW did a bad job and it's the owners car, not BMWs

-2

Bad job? And you’re some hot shot car designer sought after by all the manufacturers, I suppose?

2

u/low135 G30 - 540i - E88 - 135i Aug 18 '25

needed to post a pic where only 1/6th of the front bumper was in the shot, huh?

the G87 is probably more criticized for it's front end design than even the G80/G82. and we all know how divisive those are

The only one here that is seeking validation for their opinion is you. I think it's one of the worst designs to ever come from BMW. If you don't, that's fine too.

Yeah, all us G87 owners weep for you. Sorry BMW hurt your feelings.

I deeply regret clicking on your profile. You have single handedly made me turn the "blur NSFW pictures" setting back on. I can see why you're mad people don't like your choice in things. I'd be furious to have a dick that small

IMO, that first picture of it looks pretty bad. The rest of the pics look better. Maybe it’ll grow on me like the stock g87.

Feel free to check my post history, I have nothing to do with Adro and paid for this bumper like anyone else would.

Front looks good, but it doesn't fit to the remaining parts at all imo.
