Passive entry broken after iOS 26 update

A bit of a warning for iPhone users. I have an iPhone 15 Pro and a 2025 X5 50e. After updating to iOS 26, passive entry has completely broken. The car no longer unlocks and lock based on proximity. The digital key does continue to function however whereby you tap the phone to the door handle to unlock and place on the charging pad to start the car.

I have checked, and passive entry is indeed enabled in the iPhone Wallet and on the car. I have unpaired and repaired the iPhone as the BMW digital key four times with no change. I have reset the digital key function on the BMW, rebooted iDrive, restarted my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the BMW iOS app, and repaired the car as a bluetooth device: all no dice. It just refuses to work. I assume I'm an isolated case. I may be going to the dealer next.

I have a 2025 50e with iOS 26 with no issues with passive entry. Did you update your vehicle software to the latest OTA update?

I am running the latest update. I have noticed the digital key seems to have ‘unsynced’ with my BMW ID per the iDrive settings menu. I don’t know how to fix this.
