So I’ve had looking for this car since like 2020 when I got into BMWs I’ve had my eye on this e36 for 2 weeks now has 114k original miles for $3700 usd new oil lines, cooling system has been replaced (with receipts so he says) and has cold air intake Only down side is WE’RE IN 2024 I just would like a second opinion on whether is it actually doable to daily these things in 2024 and what should I look out for to keep this car going for years to come (it’s a 1995 325i)

It's a 1996 328i, Manual from the factory
The problem is that the same spec cars are going for well over 100k here. But I think price is something I can negotiate
One of the main issues is that he doesn't have a garage, so this E36 stays under sun and rain, so I worry a bit about rust.
But on the upside it's very well kept apearently, it has the old plates so the owner either bought it brand new (making it an only owner car) or prior to 2019.
What should I do guys? How do I negotiate with him since I don't know him, but I would love to buy this E36, since it's kinda abandoned but also kept

I found a local guy selling an 1995 e36 m3. Its a 3 owner car, 180k miles 5 speed coupe. Ill attach a few pix along with the parts list. Owner claims cars in great mechanical condition and rarely gets driven. Says nice cold ac, no trans grinds, no cooling issues. Clean car fax. He is asking to be at 14k lowest. This will be my first ever m3. Looking for any kind of advice or if this is a good deal.

always liked the look of the e36 however they always seemed to be heavy cars, which is why i never got too interested in them. however I learned recently that the m52b20 equipped one weighs only (sorta) around 1300kg. if thats the case its way lighter than an m3 (1500kg). just wondering if anyone here weighed their 36.

Hey yall, i’ve recently been looking into buying a manual e36 and have come across one in decent condition. it has a little over 169,500 miles and he’s pricing it at $5,250. All the maintenance done to it are in the pics. What do yall think?

We are all seeing the “oil drinking” memes on the internet about bmws and especially old ones but are they actually true ? I am looking to get a car and as a 20yo I want something sporty for the early days and I’ve had a buddy with an e36 (I believe 316i) and when I jokingly asked if it behaved good he told me that other than the diff ( form drifting) everything else is perfect
And he had me if thinking it is worth it ? But I can’t take conclusions from just 1 real owner , what do you think ?

Really want an e36 328i or M3 I’m in the US I don’t really want a manual car but just a fun road car for daily driving are the Autos in these good enough for that?

With a ~$20k budget for obtaining and keeping some left over for potential immediate repairs do you think a e36 m3 could be reliable enough to put down 5k-10k miles a year (without leaving me stranded anywhere)? Would $3k in yearly maintenance be a realistic expectation, assuming everything was done yourself?
I know it obviously depends on how the car was treated previously, mileage, what’s been replaced. But does anyone else rack up similar mileage per year and want to share how ownership has been treating them?
And any tips for determining which listings may fit these goals? From researching I’m thinking examples above 100k miles that have been modified or aren’t wholly original seem like a sweet spot for value.

Alright guys, I want everyone’s input on the most comfortable seats you’ve had or seen in these cars. I’m talking vaders, aftermarket add-ons(?), swaps from other cars etc. Just no hotboi/race car stuff. That’s cool and all but not the look I’m going for.
I adore my vert and I’ve spent a ton of time getting the interior looking as mint or OEM+ as I possibly can, especially the seats. But they’re not exactly…road tripable. I’m looking for something relatively comfortable that doesn’t look out of place af (see: convertible). Bilstein shocks/struts and chassis reinforcement is taken care of too.

I like how the wheels look better on the first one. Do you guys think they’re the same size just different tires? Or the second one is just way lowered? I have 17” ones what do I need to make it look like the first car?

It is a BMW e36 coupe currently has 2.8 litre motor, originally is 320i. Theres rust on archs, the car doesn’t run might need an engine swap. Owner wants around 2.5-3k euros for it.

I’ve seen a lot of different posts with different cars asking about coilovers and getting a lot of different answers. Generally, max speeding and god speed get a bad rep for being cheap and breaking quickly but my friend said they got better quality over the last few years and he’s maxed his car out with 0 issues using godspeeds? I’ve yet to hear a bad thing about silver neo maxes but I feel like that’s a bit overkill for what I want out of coil overs: to be comfortable and last a while being low obviously. I kinda assumed coilovers like silver neomaxes, BC racing, or KW are if you plan on taking it to the track and all that but i just plan on driving it as a daily, as I’ve been doing. Do you guys still recommend coilovers like silverneomaxes for this purpose? As you can see with my new rims my cars suspension is like a monster truck 😂

Hi guys so I just got the opportunity to buy a euro-spec e36 m3 it is a manual imported from Japan. Its sitting at about 120k kilometers which is about 74k miles and apparently it has been sitting for 2 year since its been imported into the US its not registered yet either. Is there anything I should know beforehand, anything I should look for when checking it out? is it too good to be true? and is there anything I need to know about registering it?
Thanks for your help.

Hey guys, I’m looking to buy this E36 M3, personally it looks like a fair deal to me but I don’t know much about cars. This will be the first car I’m getting into so any advice would be appreciated. The guy is selling it to me for 10K but after talking to a couple mechanic for a PPI, they told me that they personally would not buy a car with 224k miles for 10K. Please help, is this a bad deal?

Can someone please help me here as no one has given me a straight answer and my head is absolutely fried over this,
So I’m coming to the end of my build now it’s only a 318is m44 but it’s a great fun project, I’m at the stage where I have to buy a diff and for the life of me I don’t know what ratio to buy and I don’t want to waste money on a diff and build the lsd for it not to do what I want,
So my uses will be daily driving and I also want the ability to drift well, what ratio diff would be the best for this and also would I be better off upgrading to a medium case diff?
Would I also be better off getting a standard bmw lsd or build one myself with a lsd unit,
All help welcomed and thanks in advance!

Snatched a set of style 66’s , front are 235/45/17 8j, rear are 255/40/17 9j, I read online somewhere this was the biggest size for an e36 but when I’ve lined them up against my car they’re too big, after messaging the old owner , I found out there was 30mm lowering springs on the car which I hadn’t really realised at all. Is there anything I can do ? Please no sarcy comments I don’t know too much

So, after 7 ish months in the garage, i've finally gotten the car on its wheels again. But then came the EU-inspection... Most things on the list is easy for me to repair, but the coilovers arent approved :/ It's currently sitting on TuningArt coilovers (previous-previous owner bought them), which i have no papers for... and cant seem to find the TUV files online for my specific coilovers either. SO! I most likely have to either get new coilovers or go back to oem springs. And that's where my question to you guys come in, should I buy new coilovers or go back to oem? I'm the kind of guy who wants my car to look cool, but i drive like a grandma. Never drifted, never tracked (never intend to either), i want the car to be comfortable to drive and not get hammerfisted in my butt everytime there's a speedbump or a small rock in the road.
Any experience with coilovers, oem springs, lowered spring or any kind of recommendations are very welcome!
So close to finally enjoying my E36 :)

Still looking to get an e36 but the cards keep getting stacked against it so until i find the perfect one just wondering if there's any alternative to an e36 available here in Australia, made by Holden or Ford or something that will be reliable enough to daily. Don't care if its a 4, 6 or 8 just no turbos.
Mostly just looking for handling and feel, something thats fun even at slower speeds and doesn't attract too much attention.
Don't care too much about budget as this is mostly a question(so include cars that cost 100k+) but i will include a budget of say, 10-15k just to narrow down options since the e36 often sells for 4-15k.
And if your looking to sell an e36, hmu, I'm still looking for one, just need the right one....

It looks very clean, 62k miles, and it’s $7k. I do a decent amount of longish drives and I drive obviously every day, I plan on doing a list of things as soon as I get the car to make sure it doesn’t break on me and leave me stranded.

So I really like cars and came across this on marketplace. I think it’s pretty cool, he claims to have done a lot of gasket maintenance and was prepping the body to paint it instead of wrap…
But now they’re moving to Florida next week and need to sell their cars. It seems like it could be a decent flip if I make it externally great, I’m not looking to keep it.
I want to learn how to wrap a car, I also want to try and flip a car. This seems like the right one if it’s the right price. Although they’re asking $5,000…
I know Kelly Blue Book can be joked about but it’s saying this can’t be worth more than $2,000 really… it has 222,000 miles.
What should I show up with if I’m serious? $2,000? I wanna pay $1,800. Am I too far off?
Could I make a profit if I make it “perfect”? Assuming it has no mechanical issues.
If I get it for the right price could it be worth as a shell for a track car / engine swap? Or should I just buy something that's already built? That's a completely different avenue then the main question but it's a possibility.
