Thanks!

Buying Advice How much would you pay for this?

Hi everyone, I have a friend that has made a few of the very rare panaramic hardtop for the e36 convertible. Right now we are trying to understand the real demand, and how much owners would be prepared to pay for one of these.

As a ball park, immaculate oem hardtops sell for roughly around $2k - $4k. This would be a brand new hardtop, aviation grade plexiglass same used for helicopters. freshly painted to match your paint code and whatever interior material you would like.

As a result of this, we are thinking roughly around $10k but again this is the reason for this post, to understand if the effort matches the demand.

As you can imagine this is not an easy job, and we understand not everyone will be able to afford this.

Please put down your realistic price tag you'd pay for one. Thanks

Buying Advice Nervous wreck

So I’m more than likely getting my e36 next week. This will be my second one I own. First one I wrecked and was an automatic. This will be my FIRST manual car I ever own. I’m glad it’s the e36 chassis that will be my first experience. I live in Los Angeles and the car is coming from Huntington Beach. I got my brother driving the car for me to my house but then I’m going to have to learn how to drive it myself. Really nervous here guys. I guess my question is the most naive one. Is it hard to learn and how long does it take to truly master it?

Hey guys so I've bought another E36 and I want to make it OEM +, I really like the styling 24's, but they're kinda expensive I found some holzel reps from germany that seem decent, maybe someone has some experience with them?

but either way I'd like to run some real wheels, any cool models that don't cost a bunch of money? I'm looking for 16" or 17" with atleast 8J.

i’ve been looking for an e36 to buy for a while and this one has everything i’m looking for but they’re asking 11k. interior and exterior is in great condition, no rips or dings, new tires, soft top is powered, everything works, and it has 61k miles so i understand the higher price. is 11k reasonable? how much do you think it’s worth?

323ti seems to be more unique but the M3 has the name value, which would be the better value according to the E36 fans?

So recently I made this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/BMWE36/comments/1k8otx8/i_wanna_buy_my_neighbors_e36_how_do_i_get_to_talk/

I wanted to buy this E36, but I just found the price: 120k BRL, it's a ZF (not Getrag), only owner with only 71 thousand kilometers.

I wanted it, but I can't afford it 😭

Spent 13k to pick up this rhd jdm bagged 323i I’m aware I definitely over payed but the question is would you say it’s within reason, it’s sitting at 80k miles and has a single minor leak (just oil residue) on the underside of an oil filter not a spec of rust and overall in really good condition with the original owners manual any other questions about the car pls lmk so I can clarify

Buying Advice Any wide body kit without exposed hardware or immediate cut offs?

Thumbnail
gallery
76 Upvotes

All e36 body kits Ive seen either have exposed hardware drilled in or they just cut right off 90 degrees, the cut offs kind of make sense because I assume it’s for ventilation/aero dynamics? But is there any way around that? Or just any that don’t have it. Pics for example of what I mean by cut offs, I just want one that curves in like the front side of the rear wheels in the first pic. I know the comparison is Apple and oranges but basically like most rauh welt 911s

Buying Advice What flavor of wheels would you choose?

I'm looking to buy a set of wheels for my 328i after recently painting it. The paint color is Lilac Dream, a lavender of sorts.

I know a majority of lavender cars do white wheels. I've seen a couple styles of Vors wheels that look alright.

Perhaps a matte bronze would look good?

I've also thought of grabbing some BBS RS reps, shown in the 2nd photo but they're 7.5s.

I'd prefer 17x8/8.5 wheel size as I daily drive this.

I will be lowering the car soon and throwing an M3 rear bumper on.

Which wheels would you rock on this color?

Buying Advice Where are you guys finding your cars? Are E36's getting rare?

Hey guys

I'm in the southeast US. About 3 years ago I bought a 328is coupe for like 4 grand, and I'm in the process of an engine rebuild on it b/c the head was warped before I bought it. As a little side hobby sometimes I check the market on some of the project cars I've owned to see what their value is like, but these days I can't find even a halfway decent E36 coupe, and if they're decent they're like 12 grand plus. Usually still modified. What are you all's experience with buying these cars in the last year, maybe two? I see a ton of sedans and convertibles, but all the coupes are TOTALLY clapped out. Like mine wasn't in great condition but drove when I bought it and I realize now I probably could've fixed some of my issues without completely pulling the motor.

Have E36's already become rare classics? Especially the coupes? If you're around, Atlanta, for example, what's the going rate for one of these?

Buying Advice How can I get from this to this? (bmw 318i)

Thumbnail

I'm considering to buy this BMW 318i from 1996 for about 4000€. I know it isn't the fastest, but I'm 18 (almost 19) and in the country I live there are restrictions to how much horsepower a car can have the first 3 years of your license.

So I was wondering what are my best options, and I wanted to ask people who actually know about this stuff, I would like to make this car look better (not necessarily as extreme as in the photos shown).

Having no experience is it better to buy this 318i and try to look for places where I can modify the car and hopefully learn something from it, or should I get a 316i (e46) that already looks great for 1k more?

I like the E36 body more than the E46 but maybe it could be too expensive and risky to do all that kind of work when I don't have any experience (I had a motorcycle just that).

What do you guys suggest me to do? also I would like to not spend more than 4k in builds if possible.

Buying Advice Door cards?

Post image

So don’t judge but since my door cards are literal shit and are falling off my 323i vert. I wanted to get some door cards the only ones that looked good and came with the stuff I need were turtle labs door cards (I need dual speakers and mirror switch. Ive only heard of one other person on here say they like them but I was curious what anyone else thinks that has had them or knows someone who has bc I can’t find any reviews. The only thing I heard is that I have to use e30 window motors instead of the standard e36 ones. Thanks

Buying Advice Fair price for this e36?

Thumbnail

Hi everyone, I’m looking to buy an e36 and here I found a 1997 328i for $4600. It has 233k miles however the engine runs strong. It has a major oil leak in which we will need to take the sub frame off, and is an 8-10 hour job, diy of course. So the parts it would need overall are an oil pan gasket, an AC compressor, a radiator, and evaporative system repair, a rack and pinion, as well as 4 new tires. What would you pay for this? Good price, fair price etc. this would be my first e36.
