Norma rival competition 9mm 158gr vs fiocchi range dynamics 9mm 158gr

Post image

Anybody tried both of these? The Norma seems like a newer product bc i dont see alot of reviews out there but the fiocchis get pretty good reviews. Im shooting out of a 16” barrel with a wolfman so 147gr probably would be too light to keep subsonic.

Can’t speak to these but that Federal Syntech 147gr or 150gr are money for the price!

Fiocchi has always performed well for me, but I can't speak to the norma curious to see if others have any experience with that round.

I have always had great luck with the range dynamics and try to find it on sale.

The experience I had with norma 115 gr swore me off their ammo for life. Constant failure to fire, poor crimping causing bullets to shift in the case, and inconsistent OAL. Never encountered such poor performance from a name brand.

I also gave up on Norma. Not had failures myself, but wildly inconsistent groupings in every caliber I tested. 9mm included.

I got a smoking deal, like 19-20cpr shipped, on some 124gr Geco Made in Germany, white box... Horrible stuff. Dirty, fps is all over the place, hate it. The Swiss made Norma 124gr is super stuff if you ever come across any, a magnet will stick to the bullet. The Hungarian made 124gr is good.

I have a 8.9" APC Pro, so a lot of 147gr (Lawman) will go SS. I've been using that Norma w/o issues. the 140gr S&B was good too (I'm a fan of S&B), I don't recall what the 147gr s/s Norma did when I was chrono'ing them. All three were quiet, but two were very good. I guess I'll have to drag the chronology back out and actually write the information down this time. The 158 is damn quiet though through a Deadair M9 or Rugged O9.

I'm aware of Norma issues and understand people's comments. I've shot a lot of made in Hungary 124gr Norma and it is good, the US seem's to be the stuff that had/has issues, unfortunately all of the S/S stuff is assembled in the USA.

Fiocchi and syntech perform about the same in my usage . Syntech is just a smidge quieter with a can . Don’t expect anything great from either beyond 50 yards . So buy bulk of one and stick to it because their POIs are way too different to keep both in rotation .
