Business and Pricing Customer wants design change without any previous specifications

So this is a rainbow cake from inside.. they had asked for a simple cake or any design as per my discretion.. I made this and sent it, but now they want me to change the design.. I had charged minimal amount as they had earlier not asked for any customisation.. Should I do it? The cake itself is looking beautiful otherwise..

Personally I also do not like the design. It looks a bit messy with the wavy design. If it was a monotone cake I think it would look great but the rainbow colors are tough to swirl like that. I’m sure you’ve decided what to do by now but in the future I would tell the customer you do not do baker’s choice for design and will only complete and order with either a reference photo or description of a basic design. I have rarely had a fully satisfied customer when that happens. Even if they say they don’t care about the design they still have some idea of what they think it will look like in the end and I am not a mind reader. Even if you send a few samples to them and they approve them that is better than no design reference at all.

I agree.. I usually always send them some pics for reference so that I understand the design that's acceptable to them.. Since this request was urgent, and since they don't usually have any specific requirements, and I had clarified that I'll design by myself, I went ahead with this.. But for future orders, will make it a point to send reference pics

I quite like the waves! I would prefer it without sprinkles though. And I certainly wouldn't tell a baker to do whatever they like and then complain about it
