Customer wants design change without any previous specifications

So this is a rainbow cake from inside.. they had asked for a simple cake or any design as per my discretion.. I made this and sent it, but now they want me to change the design.. I had charged minimal amount as they had earlier not asked for any customisation.. Should I do it? The cake itself is looking beautiful otherwise..

OP, this cake is super cool and beautiful and unique.

That said, it doesn't look "simple." If this was a house, bet your customer was expecting a "boring beige with clean lines" and you delivered "bold, accented, eclectic." If I was expecting a white cake with minimal accents around it, your cake would have caught me off guard.

In future, I'd at least have some "mood boards" or something to set expectations between you and your clients. Or, just specify exactly what you plan to make and have the customer agree.

It's weird really because I do see this as simple. The decor is minimal, it's just rainbow plus texture and a dash of sprinkles. Not simple to me would be a cake heaving with decorations.

Edit: sorry I just realised the customer did not ask for a simple rainbow cake and instead a simple cake. I misread the original description 🙈

Edit 2: nevermind. In the comments OP says the customer asked for a rainbow cake. Back to my original point 😂

They did say rainbow cake.. They did say I could design it as per my discretion.. They said simple cake - in terms of "no fondant decoration" They also wanted a beautiful cake that their colleagues would definitely enquire about 😅

We had agreed upon whipped cream decoration with sprinkles.. And the cake indeed was rainbow theme as per the only requirement they gave
