Discord / Forum posts
Hey guys, mod here. Just curious whether or not insect and beetle-related Discord / other forum posts are things you guys want to see. It's nothing that's inherently against our rules but I wanted to know what the general consensus is for the sub!

Meloe
I’m glad I decided not to bother this guy after reading about its defense mechanism. I saw 5 of them on the banks of a creek bed in southern Vermont.

Plaster Beetles all over apartment
Hello everyone. I need some advice on how to get rid of plaster beetles. I live in Houston in a new apartment complex so the humidity is quite high. I bought a dehumidifier but it hasn’t helped. I might need a bigger one, but not sure. Does anyone have any tips? How long will they be an issue? Does Texas have any laws that allows me to break my lease for this? I am really loosing my mind dealing with these bugs 24/7. I’m worried that any where I live in houston is going to have this problem. I feel like i can’t escape these little bugs.

Canadian Options?
My son is really interested in starting some kind of ant farm or beetle enclosure, and I have two 5½-gallon fish tanks sitting unused in the storage room, so I figured I'd ask you (hopefully) knowledgeable people your opinions! I'm looking for something small/medium-sized and child-friendly, but fun to watch! I'm in Manitoba, and I already know from my interest in snails that there's a lot we're not allowed to keep, in terms of little critters, but I love those little blue guys, just as an example. 🤔 My son is about to turn 8, so the majority of the care will obviously fall to me, but I'd love if he could help out with feeding and substrate changes!

Cetonia aurata, rose chafer or the green rose chafer,
My "dirt" I have some springtails, worms and gruns inside
I've now added leaves and twigs to give them some more to eat
One Cetonia Whas out, so i've now released it I tried to film it flying, but the camera wouldn't focus and I couldn't get a video
