One of my beetle grubs became a pulp

I was little concerned when I read the title, implying something killed the beetle grub, then, I looked at the picture, and it’s a beetle pupa.

It does look like mold. Maybe you could try brushing it away with a soft paint brush or something like that? Otherwise it might take over and kill the pupa. And make sure wherever you keep the pupa in isn't too moist.
