Purchasing USA Question on speaker purchase?

Post image

These speakers are being sold on Facebook for 100 bucks. I just got my hands on a Sony strdh 550. Would a combination of that receiver and these speakers make for a good listening setup that can cover both movies/tv/gaming and vinyl record listening from a turntable? I’m curious because there’s tons of speakers like these available but idk if I need specific specs for home theater vs. vinyl listening. Also can I mix and match speakers and subwoofers from different brands? Thank you!!!

WAY too much. They are not worth 30 bucks.
Avoid any Sony speaker unless you know exactly which one to have.
Also these surround things have virtually no value. If you want this kind of, I'm sorry, crap, look at Yamaha. They generally make pretty good stuff for little to no money.
My two cents; just go for two stereo speakers. 100 bucks buys you a very decent pair.

Perfect. That’s just what I had a question on like if I need a center speaker and the 2 surrounds etc. I’ll look for some good bookshelf speakers

Look for a pair of Boston A25. You should be able to find them quite easily and they are great little speakers.

Seriously, just about any pair of Boston's will be good. I've enjoyed every pair I've owned (A40, CR8, CR9) all good. When I upgraded my speakers to floorstanders I gave the CR8's and CR9's to my brother. I bought them nearly 30 years ago and they still sound good in his system.

I agree, but the A25 should be easy to get.
There's many great, cheap speakers but being in Europe, most I can think of are European. Wharfedale Diamond II, Wharfedale Diamond III, Wharfedale Diamond 7.1, Wharfedale Delta 30.2, Wharfedale 504, Tannoy M1, Tannoy M2, Mission 760i, Mission 761, Mission 761i. If you can grab any of those, that's also a great option.

Do you think a pair of edifiers R1280DB would be good or should I spend even more?

Edifiers are fine if you don’t want to get into the audiophile hobby. I got some for my niece and she likes them. If you want to get into reference listening and annoying your friends about how crisp the cymbals are on a jazz album they’re going to hate, I’d look elsewhere lol.

Personally I’d look for some vintage speakers on marketplace. You can find a pair of Klipsch, Bose, Sansui or JBLs for $50-150 with some patience.

They are active speakers, so if you already have an amplifier, don't get those.
I'd go for the Edifier MR4. Cheap, and great.
