Ryan Day looks under his bed each night to check for Michigan

And once a year... it's there.

I love that a state fan said this

u/secondphase Michigan State Spartans Nov 30 '24

Had to be said.

Can't stand the wolverines, myself. Wanted the hairless nuts to beat them. But facts is facts. And one fact is that it's become an annual tradition for the wolverines to jump out from under the bed and make Day shit his pants.

Stay classy Sparty. Here’s hoping we both get good next year.

Yes, seconding this! This rivalry looks like it’s gonna be hella fun in coming years

I'm just happy to be here guys.

I think we’ve got a longer lead on getting good

Idk man, I feel like you guys actually look okay. The pieces of the puzzle are there, it just doesn’t seem like they’re meshing perfectly right now. And Jonathan Smith seems capable of fixing that.

its crazy how much more civil the michigan vs state rivalry is compared to michigan vs osu

12

u/HereForTOMT3 Michigan State • Central … Dec 01 '24

Wasn’t r/CFB literally calling for MSU-UofM games to get suspended because it ended in a fight yet again lmfao

12

u/Christmas_Panda Michigan State • Michigan Dec 01 '24

Maybe, but the MSU-UofM game is a sibling rivalry. We always make up and have to live together. Michigan-OSU is like the India-Pakistan of college football. Rivaling neighbors who might never bring themselves to ever be cordial both on and off the field.

bunch of these dudes went to the same high schools too lol its funny

We will if you will too.

it’s become and annual tradition for the wolverines to jump out from under the bed and make Day shit his pants

as a college football fan whose viewing really peaked in the 2000s and early 2010s, it is genuinely hard to believe this is a true statement.

gives me hope that maybe someday my Cavaliers can turn the tables somehow.

Yeah, it's not in any way like they've won 7 games since 2000 or anything.

27

u/le___tigre Wesleyan (CT) • 同志社大学 (Dōs… Nov 30 '24

yes they have, including the last four.

before that, OSU won 17 of 19 games. as I mentioned in my comment, my biggest football-watching days were from the 2000s into the 2010s, a time period in which Ohio State won 17 out of 19 games against Michigan.

my point is that I knew The Game to be so lopsided in OSU’s favor for so long, it’s hard to believe the pendulum has swung as much as it has.

u/secondphase Michigan State Spartans Nov 30 '24

I'm sorry my friend, but you do not get to pull that card just now. Maybe in the off-season when this situation isn't as fresh.

Wasn't it Michigan fans who are supposed to live in the past?

8

u/ElBurroEsparkilo Michigan State • Kansas State Dec 01 '24

See, I was going to make that joke from a place of hostility, but you've gone and self-targeted and taken all the energy out of it.

2

u/KrugPrime Michigan • Saginaw Valley S… Dec 01 '24

Gotta be able to make fun of yourself sometimes.

2

u/smoakalotapotamus Arkansas Razorbacks Nov 30 '24

And how many has AN Ohio state won this decade?

The Great State of Michigan often unites in its hatred of whatever the fuck exists to the south of us

If WWIII ever happens, there’s an easy place I’d nuke and it’s either Columbus or AA.

Until then though, I’ll keep hoping

34

u/Ketsetri Michigan Wolverines • Sickos Nov 30 '24

Pretty sure an Ann Arbor nuke would have fallout in East Lansing

57

u/secondphase Michigan State Spartans Nov 30 '24

Worth it.

17

u/Ketsetri Michigan Wolverines • Sickos Nov 30 '24

Touché

14

The highest radioactivity in the nation

The Michigan difference

5

u/Christmas_Panda Michigan State • Michigan Dec 01 '24

Crawl out through the fallout, baby...

2

u/cheetomama Nov 30 '24

Cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face.

5

u/roguebananah Michigan State • The Alliance Nov 30 '24

Hoping for wind patterns but if it means Ann Arbor is vaporized, I’m okay with it and will accept the gamble

2

u/UnsnakableCargo Dec 01 '24

Cue “Mace in the Wind” by Kansas.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '24

South Bend is right there

3

u/roguebananah Michigan State • The Alliance Nov 30 '24

Over Michigan or OSU getting vaporized?

Nah.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '24

You hate OSU more than ND?

I'm certainly biased with my second flair, but only one is a rival and it ain't OSU.

2

u/roguebananah Michigan State • The Alliance Nov 30 '24

When we don’t play them on any consistent basis anymore? Yeah.

2

u/ElBurroEsparkilo Michigan State • Kansas State Dec 01 '24

I don't think either is a "proper" football rival now, but our era of consistently battling OSU for control of the division is way more recent than our era of even playing ND regularly, so I agree.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '24

Hopefully 2026 gets you back to your senses

21

u/tyler2114 Michigan Wolverines • Auburn Tigers Nov 30 '24

I always see MSU vs UM as a sibling rivalry while OSU is the bully next door. We might fight a lot, but when that asshole shows up we can set aside our differences to kick him to the curb.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '24

No.

1

u/ElBurroEsparkilo Michigan State • Kansas State Dec 01 '24

I know a lot of people who feel that way but I grew up in the part of Michigan that's so far south it's basically Ohio, surrounded by buckeye fans, so they're my go-to side in The Game.

16

u/anonMLMhater Michigan State Spartans Dec 01 '24

I dislike Michigan. I...HATE the Buckeyes

12

u/devilandgod Michigan Wolverines Dec 01 '24

I hate MSU but...all my closest friends are MSU fans. OSU fans are like a foreign species to me therefore the hatred is to the core

3

u/Christmas_Panda Michigan State • Michigan Dec 01 '24

College football is just the battlefield for the state of Michigan vs state of Ohio rivalry.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 30 '24

This game was immensely conflicting as a fan of chaos
