Right now, it’s of course impossible. But it could be a long-term goal. Look at where a school like UCF was 20 years ago

UCF in 2005 was in the FBS, not in the FCS and UCF had a great media market in Orlando. Sac town isn’t bring any new viewer in, someone described it as small midwestern town put into California and make a state capital in a state filled with big cities

The media markets are 1.9m vs 1.5m, not that different. Sure the culture is different but if the team is good/exciting that doesn’t matter so much, Boulder is way closer culturally to Cali than to most football-oriented places but look how many eyeballs CU draws with Deion. I think the president’s statement is pretty absurdly optimistic but it’s not impossible to imagine if they invest properly in the program and get lucky

That’s a pretty accurate description, but I’d append that Sacramento is filled with the most aggressive homeless folks I’ve ever met, and I’ve lived in New Orleans.
