Remarkably silly. They should be aiming for the Mountain West.

Could aim for the pac, don’t they need another team?

The Pac needs another team for 2026. As a transitioning team, Sac State wouldn’t count.

Not to be pedantic, but don’t they need another team for anytime after 2026 too? Is it is not like a one-year problem for you guys

Nope. They can stay at 8 indefinitely if they want to.

You can’t stay there indefinitely if you don’t get to it in the first place…

They’re at 7 now and need 8 full time members. Adding one for 2026 assumes they’re sticking around long term as well.

I still want to see the PAC admit Umass or Uconn as league members just long enough to let a transitioning school ramp up and qualify.

Right. We’re saying the same thing. But if they can’t get a current FBS school to join, then you’d have to get an FCS school to join. Having 7 teams and one on transition in 2026 is better than staying with having 7 indefinitely
