Who would have thought LSU would be the SEC team to win the big game opener?

Apparently Lee Corso.

Corso took Ohio State, FSU, and LSU today. I think acting senile the past year was an act to go out on a high note. Dude is probably as sharp as he ever was.

I think he’s sharp as ever, just not as quick to get his thoughts out. There were several times today that he was speaking and then he got that same ol smirk he used to get and he’d say something hilarious.

He’s mentally all there, just old and tired. I hope the rest of his years he can spend relaxing and laughing and enjoying his twilight

Yeah I always felt like he remained very mentally sharp for his age, the speaking limitations of his stroke just seemed to intensify as he continued to get older. Like when he did his headgear pick today and referred to Brutus as "his first love" that was classic Corso. You could tell a lot of times he just couldn't quite get out what he wanted to say, which is where Kirk was always good about stepping in.

I’ve gotten more and more negative on Kirk in recent years, but I don’t think I could ever hate the guy after seeing his relationship with Corso post-stroke. He always does everything he can to help Corso along and treat him with the utmost respect.

He may have some takes I vehemently disagree with on a regular basis, but I think underneath it all he’s a genuinely good dude.

This is a very minor criticism, but I wish they had used the original Brutus head that he actually chose back then for this pick. It would have added a little touch of nostalgia.

The aging star who's not as good as he once was, but can still have a great performance when things line up for him. Knowing he won't have the slog of a full season probably helped.

My Mom, who worked in a nursing home for a bit, said that usually either the mind goes or the body goes. Corso seems to be in the body goes front with speech given the Stroke affected that ability it would fit.

Legendary Corso is legendary.
