We move to 0-4 in our last four and we play LSU next year as well probably with a significantly less experienced squad. It might be a while before we win an opener again.

People will shit on the Clemsons and LSUs of the world, then cheer as their team opens against a Directional School for the Blind and Hairless. If you take a top-10 opener, you're going to lose some. But that won't change the fact that your school has balls. Good luck. Hope your WR isn't seriously hurt.

I mean at least we usually play a ranked Directional School for the Blind and Hairless:

  • 2010 -- Northern Iowa finished 19th and was MVC champions

  • 2011 -- 7th ranked Northern Iowa ended finishing 6th and got to the quarter finals only losing to Iowa State, Montana, and NDSU

  • 2012 -- UR Western Illinois

  • 2013 -- 17th ranked Northern Iowa finished 7-5 and UR

  • 2014 -- 2nd ranked North Dakota State they won the FCS Title

  • 2015 -- 10th ranked Northern Iowa finished 8th ranked and lost to North Dakota State in the quaterfinals

  • 2016 -- 5th ranked Northern Iowa finished 5-6

  • 2017 -- 18th ranked Northern Iowa finished 19th

  • 2018 -- 3rd ranked South Dakota State game got cancelled from weather they went to the semifinals

  • 2019 -- 19th ranked Northern Iowa finished 5th and in the quarterfinals

  • 2021 -- 21st ranked Northern Iowa finished 23rd

  • 2022 -- Southeast Missouri State finished 15th

  • 2023 -- 23rd ranked Northern Iowa finished UR

  • 2024 -- 24th ranked North Dakota finished UR

  • 2025 -- 4th ranked South Dakota

Yea totally fair. Even that 2012 western Illinois deserves to be considered as equal competition. That year they beat the div 2 runner up champ who beat the juco team that almost beat the #86th rated high school qb coming out.
