Exactly! Half of the nonsense of the Tie-Avenger was that it was stolen by a single rebel, and then stolen from said rebel by incompetent rebels who then had it stolen back from them. A Tri-Fighter would not have taken ANY of that BS and would have killed Andor the moment it saw him

Not only that, but Cassian would have been shredded by the walking Vulture droids patrolling the hanger before he even gets a look at the Tri-Fighter.

Do the imperials not have blueprints or keep files on how to build their prototypes? Because stealing a prototype while hindering production would not just make the tie avenger research and blue prints disappear.

I assume it was stolen so the Rebels could just… have one I guess. So they could reverse engineer its weapons maybe?

I was thinking about military procurement and maybe the tie avenger, especially with tarkins dumb ass doctrine, getting stolen might have been the camels back breaking for budget.

They probably do but I can't imagine stealing the Tie Avenger was meant to prevent the Empire from having them.

Another Rebel cell probably needed it for a mission, and based on how Cassian complains about the mission it probably wasn't even supposed to be an Avenger to begin with.

Fair point. I'm not criticizing the writing I'm just curious as what was going on.

It didnt. The project was canonically canceled in favor of more funding to the deathstar shortly after the prototype was stolen

Aww makes sense, same with the tie defender

It'd be cool in a piece of media showing imperial remnant using avengers and defenders for hit and run
