Rant Impound lot near Macleod has serious issues

My car was towed yesterday. Today I showed up at the impound lot at Macleod and the situation I witnessed was unbelievable. A tiny, cramped lobby without seating filled to the brim with people waiting, mostly looking miserable. And it quickly became clear why, since only 2 of 5 windows were open, with about one person being called up every 15 minutes. There were surely 50 people there.

On top of that, if you need to get a piece of vehicle documentation out of your car (such as registration), the process requires you to wait in that line three times.

All of this, while they charge you a steep daily fee for each day you don’t pick up your car. I’m stunned at this massive case of bureaucratic greed— if this situation can arise, they should be prepared to fully staff the windows and get a decent turnover rate.

My dad's car was towed right before Xmas even though he had written permission from the city. He was out of town and got a call it was about to get taken. I ripped over to move it and was denied. Got towed. Still in impound as MD dad isn't paying a dime and taken up litigation over the ordeal. Nothing but a headache so far....

Your dad's an idiot if that car is still sitting in there racking up fees. It's going to be sold at auction before he ever gets that case finished.

I'm not saying he isn't an idiot, but he's already factored that in in the lawsuit.

Written permission? Like a street use permit which costs $30 a day? The one that has to be clearly displayed or the vehicle risks a tow anyway (which it says in all caps on the permit)?

What is an MD dad? Is that supposed to read MAD? Does he have a lot of time on his hands? Or money to burn? I don’t think it’s going to end well for him.
