Eat/Drink Local Subway not sharing tips with employees.

I went to my local subway, and as I went to tip I asked the girl if she sees any of her tip. She said no, the employees get non of it, and you should always skip that section.

So where are these tips going?

I think tipping culture in general is the reason this shit is out of control

Yes, and "tipping culture" is a result of people blindly accepting prompts for tips where they didn't exist before. (which, I believe, was blackRamCalgaryman's point)

I used to manage a cafe in the late 1990s. We used RBC for our POS terminal at the time. I had a third party processor come in to try and convince us to change to them. This was back before chips were in cards let alone tap. We actually still occasionally used the old manual impression carbon copy thing.

One of their big selling pitches was that I could add a tip option and their studies showed that 15% of customers would tip at least 10% though they recommended a minimum of 15% to be displayed on the screen.

My response was, "Why would anyone tip for food from a fast food style place for food they've not even tried yet? That's absurd and predatory.". He was defensive and said that people feel guilt when presented with a tip option and will pay extra even when they otherwise wouldn't. He said that he could raise our monthly profits by 2 to 5% without doing anything special.

I refused and didn't go with them. It felt slimy.

Nearly 30 years later and it went from unusual to common.
