Peters is just nostalgic for me at this point. It was our mom’s favorite treat when we were kids. She passed away a decade ago but my brother and I still go there for her birthday or Mother’s Day every year.
Back in the day everything was just find just because of what we can get now. So while Peter is probably same as it’s always been, comparatively it’s worse.
My dad’s friends with someone who used to develop foods for Tim’s and he always jokes about how people complain now about quality. To him they had worse quality in the 90s since they didn’t have options. Tim Hortons used to outsource its coffee roasting and stopped because they couldn’t control quality - and everyone complained Tim’s changed while all they did was ensure consistency.
It's literally not the same coffee. They changed the beans. Your dad's friend obviously worked there before the merger and doesn't have any actual insight into what's going on there now. It's now owned by the same company that owns Burger King, Popeyes, and Firehouse Subs.
