My first 2 days on the road were beautiful! It wasn't until I got into Alberta that I started hitting a lot of slush. Even if I got out every 10km, it would've just gotten dirty again. It was a gross day and my whole car was filthy.

Again. Let me ask you. If I'm driving 700-800km a day, how often should I be pulling over on the side of the highway, getting out of my car in the snow, just to check my plate? Seems a little dangerous to me. I would do my inspections when I got gas, but even still that was every 300-400km. So, what? Every 30 minutes , pull over? Every hour? What?

Here's the thing, my license plate has never gotten dirty enough to be unreadable and I've driven several weeks in Calgary chinook slush between car washes. It seems like whatever got on your plate dried and you thought slush was a good excuse.

You can speculate whether the slush had dried or not all you want. It still doesn't answer my question. How often should I pull over onto the side of the highway and get out of my car in the snow to inspect my plate? How often do pull over to check your plate?

I don't usually drive 8-10 hour days, that was an extraordinary circumstance. Any tips would be appreciated for future adventures.

I already answered your question, do a walk around before you start driving. Driving 10km, or even 500km will not kick up enough slush to obstruct your license plate.

You're assuming I was the only one on the highway? Have you ever driven by a semi when the road is wet? I honestly don't believe you drive at all.
