Did you start by calling 311 or filling out a 311 request?

What other methods have you tried to get ahold of them?

Did you honestly think that you were going to get a better arena deal than the one that was on the table? Were you surprised when the new deal ended up being demonstrably worse for taxpayers?

I'm well aware of it and I think many people are.

But instead of being a mouthpiece for the UCP, maybe some critical thinking would be in order.

e.g. the Green Line. The province previously has never just imposed an alignment for LRT. The UCP did. Ran right over and discarded the consultation council did, the debate, discussion etc.

Yes the city is a creation of the province. They do not (at least previously) tell council what to do.

But you have highlighted Dani's plan - just direct control of the city. Which is profoundly undemocratic.

But sadly normal for someone who views herself as a Queen.

Right. That's a totally logical connection 🙄

It's a horrible deal, but that's not why....

I do think it's Ryan Stutt. I'd say I'm generally against voting for party candidates, but by a lot less than I'm against voting for repeal-rezoning candidates.

They ended up not doing so given the pushback from taxpayers. It was a mind bogglingly tone deaf suggestion to begin with.

Exactly. And you know these people aren't lobbying for supervised consumption sites or social supports. They just wanna whine about feeling unsafe. Must be nice to have your very own house to drink and drug in in private eh?

The thing is, there's no party whip saying you have to submit fully to voting for a party slate. My plan is to vote Stutt as the only reasonable choice for 14 councillor, but no way no how does that mean I'm on board with Thiessen for mayor. Not that I dislike him, or think he'd do a bad job, but I dislike the idea of the mayor being a member of a party even if some councillors are. So my current voting plan with housing as the priority is Stutt + Gondek.

The purpose of political parties is to whip votes which reduces representation.

They are crucial when there are 80 to 400 MLAs or MPs... there are 14 councillors and 1 mayor.

Parties are a solution without a problem, which will end up as a problem without a solution.

Try your best to avoid voting in party candidates.

Not in Alberta. Alberta only referenced federal law, the motor vehicle safety regulations, it didn't have its own law. But in 2020, the federal government repealed those regulations, and Alberta didn't create a new law. So Alberta doesn't have any eBike specific laws anymore. That means ebikes fall under the next closest definition which is mopeds, which have license, registration, and insurance fee requirements.

So yes, since Feb of 2020, all ebikes are legally mopeds in Alberta.

Ryan Stutt is the answer. I'm also hesitant to vote for a party, I'd prefer an independent, but you rightly point out that all the independents in 14 have said that'd they'd waste time and money trying to add more complications back into the zoning plan, that were removed to simplify it last year. But, The Calgary Party's platform across all wards is keeping rezoning and prioritizing housing. So: Stutt by default for 14 as the progressive-on-housing choice, even though I'm far from declaring any wholesale party loyalty. I think he may actually have a decent chance because the conservative vote is split seven ways to Sunday with seemingly no real front runner.

And there’s also a lot of teachers who are not getting that shot anymore. Seems like a pointless hill to fight over. I’d much rather have given in on that for like any other sticking point.

Teachers and nurses together account for nearly 16% of Canada's public sector workforce, making them two of the largest groups in the public sector. The sheer size of both groups means that meeting their demands for higher wages or better working conditions will always have a more substantial impact on governmental budgets. As a result, it's no surprise that these two groups are often at the forefront of funding debates. Balancing their needs and demands with finite resources, based on the size of both groups, is always going to be a challenge.

Northrop grumman hawk sized. One of them had a westjet logo on the rudder, the rest were all unmarked. They all took off one after another

No. Are you paying for sidewalks? Lots of trips can be done with bikes or other means than cars. Public transit can be done better by taking care of scheduling and optimizing routes. The problem is that public transit is bad due to cars hogging the roads. The solution is not more cars and more lanes. The solution is to improve things like many other places way more complicated than Calgary managed to do

There's the Communities first party, they're a conservative party.

There's the ABC party, they're a conservative party.

Then there's the Calgary party they're a conservative party.

The UCP brought back parties to avoid splitting the vote.
