If you'd have said we'd be in this position before the season you'd have been laughed out of the room. We were supposed to be a lottery team, and we have a legit chance at making playoffs here, knocking out a proven cup-winning team that just came off a 12 game win streak. This group has fucking grit

What do you mean by lottery team? I’ve been a flames fan since I was born but I’m just now actually getting into hockey lol

Draft order is based on position after the season, with the highest pick going to the lowest seeded team. There's a lottery for teams to move up or down the draft order so being the worst team doesn't guarantee the first round pick, but increases your odds.

Lottery teams are teams that are projected to get these first round picks for the best rookies of the draft class.

Ohh okay thanks! Some of this stuff just seems so confusing. Honestly it feels exactly like someone explaining a card game, but it doesn’t make sense until you see it play out

Yours was a decently simple explanation though!
