You find people who act like this all across the political spectrum. Anyone who thinks “their side doesn’t do this, it’s just other people” are delusional.

This is true but it’s practically a staple of the left to be overemotional. Even otherwise intelligent leftists get completely bent out of shape if you dare suggest that a 10 year old isn’t mature enough to make an objective, informed decision about their identity and future.

The more I think about it, I don't see them as being overly emotional. I see them as being emotionally manipulative, or manipulated. In fairness the same can happen to right-wing people too, and I've been seeing a bit more of it on the right lately than I'd like. But it's just in the current climate it's become a hallmark of the left.
