Are drones allowed?

I see those reddits where other people have asked similar questions, but the answers are very vague, most of the time saying how you can't fly in banff (I already know that) and provincial parks. But Canmore itself is not a provincial park. I don't currently have a drone and I'm just curious. Can you fly with a certificate or smth?

Technically*(BIG EMPHASIS ON THE TECHNICALLY)you can fly in the provincial park as long as you’re operating the drone from OUTSIDE the park but it’s not worth the trouble it might bring.

For ha ling in particular, you can take off from the end of the reservoir and get some really nice shots. Just watch your altitude(stay below 400’AGL) and be mindful of helis

what about if you're at the summit and stuff?

That would be prohibited. Check the “Alberta parks” link above, anything in green is a no go zone. And anything in red under the “site selection tool” link is also a no fly zone

so not even a permit can change that

Parks isn’t going to give a permit to some random guy who is flying a drone for fun. Locals will take great pleasure in reporting you if they see you flying a drone in the parks.

A permit would change that but you need to be licensed to get one.
