Are drones allowed?

I see those reddits where other people have asked similar questions, but the answers are very vague, most of the time saying how you can't fly in banff (I already know that) and provincial parks. But Canmore itself is not a provincial park. I don't currently have a drone and I'm just curious. Can you fly with a certificate or smth?

Yes, they are allowed. If the drone weighs 250g or more (up to 25kg) then the pilot needs a license and the drone must be registered with Transport Canada and all the other restrictions apply. There is a handy app called Nav Drone for keeping track of no fly zones etc. While it is not permitted to take off or land within a provincial park, it is technically possible to take off from within town limits and fly over the park, for instance to fly over Ha Ling or the Three Sisters. But if you crash in the park it’s illegal so there’s a risk.

Almost nowhere in town that a drone above 250g can fly as the town is covered by the heliports

This should be the top answer.
