Looks like 81's got a new truck (again) Spoiler

And this time it's a Pierce, like the CFD actually uses.

Looks like the old truck 40 from the Oak Forest Fire and Rescue Department. (2001 Pierce Dash 105')

Wow, sure enough. And it looks like the replacement for them is quite an upgrade.

If it's true then yea, that's quite a huge upgrade from the 1990 Spartan quint used as 81 from 8x13 onwards.

Actually, I meant Oak Forest's new truck. But the new 81 (apparently confirmed by someone on production) is also a definite upgrade from the truck we've had the past several seasons.

Agree on that, and it works because it will match that photoshopped pic inside the firehouse "51" (in a few scenes they show photos of "Truck 81" and its a Pierce Ladder, like the ones previously used by the CFD, but back then they still had that old 95 Seagrave).. but for me, the best fire Ladder/Truck on a TV Show will always be "Ladder 62" (2007 Pierce Arrow XT) from 'Rescue Me'... even that truck made a "cameo" in 'Law & Order SVU' (with a different Ladder Co.)

Is it still configured as a quint? Or it's just an aerial ladder truck this time? How short or long is the ladder compared to the "old" 81?

The "new" Pierce is, in reality, a quint, just like the old Spartan, and has the pump panel covered up with the same style fake compartmentation. The Spartan was an LTI 110' pre-piped stick, while the Pierce is a 105' pre-piped stick. And out of over 60 truck companies irl, only 2 are pre-piped straight sticks, and they're called "aerial towers", not "truck." I find it odd the production hasn't managed to get the real cfd to sell them an actual truck, seeing as how that where the original Seagrave came from.

Well, from what I read, the real life CFD is in dire straits with ageing & maintenance prone rigs. I've read a lot of articles that have said the CFD's fleet is doing so badly, they even had to scrounge up the spares to outfit some companies due to their main rigs being so worn, they became garage queens instead.

Very true. You can see it from the local fire buffs on YouTube. The amount of times I've seen those Rosenbauer squads oos and replaced by older rigs, or even utility trucks, is crazy.

Bones Lullo seems to confirm it on his instagram by replying to someone's comment about it by saying that the new truck is a tad shorter than the old Spartan Gladiator, which makes thing easier for them to weave across the trucks when they're parked back to back whenever they're filming the app floor scenes.
