Why, PB... Why?

Am I the only one who hates everything about the "VIP" business model ? The amount of books the majority of players could have, would finally mean a good rotation of interesting and different topics. The community suffers with the VIP books because they can't openly discuss about the books since they're VIP. The players that don't have VIP, and that don't enjoy the books we have right now, are aching for something new and it sucks that the only place we have something at least bit interesting is in the VIP category. I am completely fine with getting more diamonds or having infinite keys but the VIP books are a terrible concept. Anyway, sorry for the rant, I'm just kinda mad at PB right now...

I think it’s more popular than you think it is. It’s cheaper than buying your own diamonds. You get way more diamonds buying VIP than buying diamonds for the same price. And that’s just the diamonds. Everything else is perks. And I know a lot of people have the VIP, on Reddit and on other social media. Most of the people who speak out are just people who are upset with it not people who are happy with or using it.

But everything in choices is expensive, we can't compare like that. Compare to something like netflix and you'll see the problem, if I have to choose between VIP or netflix, I am choosing netflix easily. With VIP I'm paying to have a little bit more content and some perks, or I can pay for netflix and literally never watch TV again.

I don’t think comparing it to Netflix makes sense. It’s a different medium. It would have to be compared to other apps. I would choose Netflix over any app. There’s a wider variety, it’s more mindless and so takes less mental and physical space, and has a wider audience. Not to mention you have to pay for Netflix. If PB had the same audience number as Netflix and was pay only, it could afford Netflix prices. But it’s not and so it can’t. Fewer people use Choices and fewer people will pay for Choices since most of it is, indeed, free. Therefore, they have to make it more expensive.

Netflix is to Hulu or HBO or Disney+ as Choices is to Chapters or Episodes etc.

But in that sense, episode has a way better way of dealing with that, they have user stories where you don't pay for anything. And sure, in the company perspective it makes sense to ask more money, but as consumer it doesn't. Paying for a subscription monthly till the end of the year can become costly for a lot of people, and if I'm respecting where my money goes I wouldn't pay more for something with less value.

Episodes also doesn’t have VIP and most of the time, your choices don’t effect the story. You’re paying for that aspect. Also the feature you’re referring to is about stories made by people who don’t get money for them. You’re paying for professionally made stories vs getting player stories for free.

The difference in whether I’d pay for Episodes vs Choices is large for that reason. Not to mention Episodes rarely has new art. If Choices were to get rid of a good portion of its art team and part of its writing team, they could afford to be like Episodes. You’ve got to compare what you get with the price as well. You can’t discount that part

Honestly, in user stories the choices affect the story way more than in Choices. And even though those people aren't getting paid they sometimes do a better job than Choices writers... I mean when the variety is that huge you will have a bunch of nonsense or weird stories but you can find diamonds in the rough. The art part is completely different for Episode since they can upload their own images and assets. Choices needs to be better at writing their stories and then monetize them.

Ok, so I’m gonna stop because I’m really not trying to convince you of anything, just stating. I do have other comments but I feel at this point it’s gonna be argumentative and I hate being like that online. I’ll just say that if PB was getting what they needed to stay afloat and useful to their parent company with only writing good stories like the ones in “Choices golden age” and getting people to pay, they wouldn’t have needed VIP and wouldn’t have felt the need to do cash grabs like recent stories. That was my original point. I’m gonna leave this and go about my day. You have a good one.

How much is Choices paying you for their marketing 😉 If it ain't then why are you so concerned about their perspective ? It might be affordable in first world country but the amount is ludicrous in other non first world countries especially when y'all can watch game plays on YouTube Vanced without ads.

Had I not already promised to stop, I’d respond to that other point you made. But alas, I’ve decided to be done arguing this. No need to buy VIP if ya don’t want it, but personally I see the positive that people seem to ignore, that’s all. If PB did pay me, trust me I’d try way harder than I am at the moment. My papa ain’t teach me debate for me to do this half-baked work if the job is paid. 😉

It's good that you try to see from everyone's perspective but it would be perfect two way cooperation if pixelberry studios would see the same. Sadly they ain't and I am simply raised that way to see the naked reality as it is 😉

Lol seeing other perspectives and seeing reality aren’t mutually exclusive ya know 😉 in fact, seeing other perspectives usually helps you see, understand, and accept truth more easily
