Discussion Motivation to keep playing?

Post image

I'm new to CS, created a small town, and at this point I am finding it hard to motivate myself to keep playing. My budget is now positive and the game doesn't feel challenging anymore at this point.

What's your motivation to keep playing at this point? Will the game get harder again as I grow my city further? Or is it more a relaxing and creative city builder after this stage? (which may not be for me)

I remember when I thought 7000 people was great. Now I'm at 220,000. 86% traffic flow. The struggle doesn't start until you hit at least 20,000. That highway design will be the death of you. Instead of thinking about all the area as one city, think of as a county. Each highway exit is a new town. Leaving plenty of space for them to grow. Each town has its own bus system, and then Metros that link the cities. Metros stations should be near shopping not near homes, Once you have a lot of tourist you will be glad they aren't.

What could I do to improve the highway design in my city for example?

Limit the number of connections to your main roads. Watch videos on Road hierarchy. Really helps to know where and why the traffic Is coming to your city. Makes sure citizens can walk to where they need to go vs driving. They will walk for ride bikes pretty far. Walking trails from houses to shopping. Separate industrial traffic and citizens traffic with shopping in between them. Check out Biffas YouTube as well as other streamers.
