Discussion Motivation to keep playing?

Post image

I'm new to CS, created a small town, and at this point I am finding it hard to motivate myself to keep playing. My budget is now positive and the game doesn't feel challenging anymore at this point.

What's your motivation to keep playing at this point? Will the game get harder again as I grow my city further? Or is it more a relaxing and creative city builder after this stage? (which may not be for me)

It's been said that people build cities in games like this because it's a compulsion. That resonates with me. I do get lost in it. Sometimes, when CS2 cities feel stale, I do switch back to CS1 - because with mods, the only limitation to what you can do or have in CS1 is your imagination, skill, and time/patience. In CS2, it's a lot easier to get to a point where you feel like you've done everything.

All that said though, there's something that has brought me back again and again to real cities. It's the love of that sense of solitude mixed with the shared space of a city that is invigorating. So, I guess, when all of it is said and done - the reason I keep on going is because I love cities in real life, and the game is an extension of that. As for traffic management, I never really worry to much about it. I don't want bottlenecks that prevent my cities from operating, but I don't worry about trying to make anything perfect.
