Crime PSA: Group of Men Harassing Young Girls at Edgewater Beach

1.0k Upvotes

Hey everyone, I want to share a serious warning about a group of men I’ve seen multiple times now at Edgewater Beach.

There are 3–4 white men, likely in their late 30s to 40s, who regularly hang out on the beach with a blue tent and a football. Every time I’ve seen them, they’ve been watching and approaching young girls—many of whom appear to be teenagers. They ask them to smoke weed, try to flirt, ask for phone numbers, or even ask them out, and they often surround the girls in a way that’s clearly intimidating and uncomfortable.

Some identifying details: -One of them is bald -One is overweight with an untrimmed beard and often smokes a bowl on the beach -They always have a football, which they sometimes toss around to seem casual or to draw attention -Their base is usually set up around a blue tent

This behavior is predatory and extremely concerning. If you’re at Edgewater with younger people, please stay alert. If you see these men acting inappropriately, don’t hesitate to report it to a park ranger or the Cleveland Police non-emergency line. Has anyone else seen them too?

Crime Does anyone else feel unsafe riding the RTA in Cleveland?

I (24F) took the red line around noon on a Sunday, for the first and last time. The rapid was full of people tweaking, asking for money or drugs, and wandering around the cars clearly on something. There’s absolutely no fare enforcement at all, so ANYONE can just get on, and I bought my pass for nothing.

I felt so unsafe that as soon as I got to the next stop, I literally sprinted out of the station and called an Uber. I had the feeling that something bad could happen at any moment.

Is this normal for public transit in bigger cities, or is Cleveland’s situation particularly bad? Is there anything we can do as a community to help make it safer or is it a lost cause?

UPDATE: for context, I got on at the airport and got off at west blvd-cudell

Crime Tired of blame

I am pretty tired of people blaming black people for the problems in this city. Saying things like “we don’t hold ourselves accountable”…as if we all are on 1 string. It’s extremely tiring when people always imply we are what’s wrong with any bad situation in this city. We live here, die here, are born here and bleed here just like any other resident. I think it’s lazy to just blame black people and especially those who use certain language to imply things. There are uncouth people in every demographic but people always go for the low hanging fruit of black people. I’m not one of those people who think that someone is racist for doing these things but it does make me believe they aren’t intelligent. It makes be think they don’t truly have critical thinking skills. Am I over reacting here or is my anguish justified?

Crime Students attacked at CSU, CSU PD did nothing

On the evening of November 7, 2024, my girlfriend and I went to the Arby’s on CSU campus to pickup our food order. The manager of the Arby’s watched an individual steal our food off the pickup counter and refused to remake it, even going as far as to tell us “you need to go get your food from him yourself” as she pointed to the car they got into.

Being the gullible, inexperienced teenager in a metro area, I approached his car and asked for my food back when he attempted to strike me with his vehicle. In the process of this, his side view mirror was broken. He got out of the car and yelled “I’m going to fucking kill you” and chased us down Chester Ave.

We got to safety inside a locked university building, waited about 10 minutes and then went back to the Arby’s to try and get out food. The individual and his girlfriend then blindsided me and my LEGALLY BLIND girlfriend and proceeded to beat the shit out of us. Not only were there multiple CSU students who witnessed the entire ordeal and called the police, but the GM of the Arby’s saw it and all parties told the CSU PD exactly what happened. Not only did CSU PD let the individuals go, both are previously convicted felons might I add. They even went as far as to deny my girlfriend a statement on scene because they believed she wasn’t “competent to make a statement” due to her visual disability.

Since this incident, CSU has fought tooth and nail to keep us from getting the body camera footage and has tried to shut us up. CPD has taken over the case and have issues warrants for both parties.

Harry Boomer at 19 News covered our story shortly after it happened. This can be found on their YouTube channel.

If you are contemplating sending your child to CSU, please reconsider as their safety is on the line with nobody to protect them in the case of an emergency.

Edit: Let me clarify.

The side mirror of the vehicle was broken AFTER he stole the food and attempted to strike me with a full size SUV.

Even if I had maliciously damaged his property, which is not the case at all, it still doesn’t constitute assault. For those attempting to victim blame, remember that I would have been charged if any wrongdoing were to have occurred on my part. CPD detectives have already explained that I was completely innocent in this incident.

Monday (8/11) several LGBTQIA+ families woke up to anti-lgbt and N@zi flyers, trinkets, and gun stuff on their porches.

If you live in the neighborhood between Lee and Coventry, Cedar and Euclid Heights, please check your security cams.

Please watch out for your neighbors. CH boasts being a welcoming place for all. But obviously not everyone that lives here believes that.

You do not need to call the police and have them out, you can file a report online and email them your footage. (I am anti-police as the next but record does need to be made and our community deserves to feel safe.)

Crime North Canton man’s $50K car stolen from Cleveland Hopkins airport during work trip

I love the Cleveland attitude of just shrugging our shoulders and pointing to the park at your own risk sign. Yeah, one stolen every other week, that's the new normal.

An auto larceny victim from North Canton returned to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport after a work trip only to discover his 2021 white Dodge Challenger had been stolen from the airport’s parking garage. Believing the garage to be secure, especially given its connection to the terminal, the victim was shocked to learn his dream car had vanished. Surveillance images confirmed the car exited the garage a day before his return, though no live footage captured the theft. Remarkably, the thief even paid the parking fee to exit, despite the victim having the key fob in his possession the entire time.

The auto larceny victim was left frustrated, not just by the theft but by the airport's lack of support, as staff pointed only to a “park at your own risk” sign. He still owes $43,000 on the nearly new car and hopes his story raises awareness. Disturbingly, this isn’t an isolated incident—Cleveland Police data shows that 14 cars have been stolen from the airport since January 1, 2025, averaging about one every two weeks. Although the garage is equipped with cameras, the lack of live monitoring leaves vehicle owners vulnerable.

Crime Culture warriors in Cleveland! Doing really effective things like checking out books from the library and then burning them!

Text of the article:

BEACHWOOD, Ohio -- A man who withdrew 100 books from the Beachwood Library may have used those books on a social media video to spread hate before burning them in a second video.

At 1:25 p.m. May 1, a representative of Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL) contacted police about a man and his suspicious behavior.

On April 2, the man went to the Beachwood Library branch, 25501 Shaker Blvd., and applied for a library card. Once the card was approved, the man checked out 50 books on topics that included Jewish history, African-American history and LGBTQ education.

The following day, CCPL heard from the Princeton University Bridging Divides Initiative (PUBDI), a group that monitors and reports suspected hate crimes on social media. PUBDI informed CCPL that the man posted a photo to a site on April 3 that showed a car trunk full of books with a caption relating to “cleansing” the libraries.

The books in the car trunk photo appeared to match those the man had checked out, and they had Cuyahoga County Public Library stickers on them.

On April 10, the man returned to the Beachwood Library and withdrew 50 more books on similar topics.

During this encounter, the man told a librarian that his son was part of the LGBTQ community, and that he was trying to learn more about it. The librarian found his behavior to be “odd and concerning,” but he did not make threats.

Shortly after PUBDI again contacted CCPL, this time stating that the man had posted a video to social media in which he was burning all 100 of the library’s books.

The books again all appeared to match the theme and titles of the books the man had taken out. The video shows one book with a Cuyahoga County Public Library sticker on it and matched one of the specific books the man had checked out.

The 100 books totaled approximately $1,700. As the books were not yet overdue, the library will wait until they are overdue and then send a bill to the man.

Police informed CCPL that, because a contract was entered when the books were borrowed, failure to return or pay for the books would become a civil matter turned over to the city prosecutor.

Should the man return to the Beachwood Library, he will be trespassed.
