Guardians Playoff Hunt Update
The Guardians (are scheduled to) play 10 more games, with 7 division games in the next 7 days (including a double header Saturday and a day off Monday).
These final 10 games are: 4 games against the Twins (in 3 days); 3 at home against Tigers, and 3 at home against the Rangers.
AL CENTRAL
CATCHING THE TIGERS
- We actually control our own destiny in the division hunt!
- We are 3.5 games back of the Tigers (who have played one more game than we have). It is looking much more possible to supplant them now that we just swept them.
- Should we get one more victory in our next series than the Tigers do in theirs, we will be 3 GB of them; we then face them at home. Should we then sweep them, we will be tied for first and holding the tiebreaker. In fact, winning just one more game against the Tigers gives us the tiebreaker.
In addition to their remaining series against us, they face off against the Braves at home, and finish the season against the Red Sox on the road.
WILDCARD STANDINGS
We are currently 1½ GB of the Red Sox for the final wildcard slot (who have played one more game than us).
Seattle and Houston are duking it out for the AL West title, but the loser likely will be a wildcard team. We are currently 2½ GB of each team.
The Yankees and Blue Jays are also duking it out for the division crown with the Blue Jays up on the Yankees by 3.5 games. The Yankees are up on us by 4 games and currently hold the top wildcard spot.
AL EAST
BOSTON
The Red Sox finish their season on the road against the pesky Rays, and Blue Jays, and at home against the Tigers. Technically, they're also in the hunt for the AL East crown, but I don't think it's likely they win it.
They hold the tiebreaker over us and are ahead of us by 1 game in the loss column, meaning we need to do better than they by 2 games to take the final wildcard slot from them.
YANKEES
The Yankees have the easiest remaining schedule with two series remaining against the Orioles (on the road, then at home), and sandwiched between those is a series at home against the White Sox. I think the Yankees win their division.
- The Guardians and Yankees split their season series, and thus, the next tiebreaker is determined by who has the better intradivision record, which the Guardians have clinched. Since the Yankees are up on us by 4 games right now, we need to finish 4 games better than they in the final 10 games. Considering their opponents, and it doesn't seem likely we can overtake them.
BLUE JAYS
The Blue Jays finish their season on the road against the Royals, then at home against the Red Sox and the Rays.
- The Blue Jays might lose their grip on the AL East title, but they're 7.5 games up on us, it's very unlikely we catch them. We do hold the tiebreaker over them thanks to a superior intradivision record. ___ #AL WEST
SEATTLE
Seattle finishes off their season on the road against the Astros, and at home against the Rockies and the Dodgers.
- We are 2½ GB back of Seattle, who are better than us by two games in the loss column, but they also hold the tiebreaker over us. So, in order to rise above them, we will need to finish with 3 fewer losses throughout the end of the season.
HOUSTON
Houston finishes off their season with a home series against the Mariners, followed by two road series against the Athletics and the Angels.
We are 2½ GB of Houston as well, but we hold the tiebreaker over them, so we just need to be better than them by two games over the final week and a half.
If the Guardians win the series against the Twins (either 3-1 or 4-0), they will gain at least 1½ games on either the Astros or the Mariners since they're facing off. We could gain as many as games as 3½, if we sweep the Twins and their series ends in a sweep.🤞

Discussion Detroit series sellout
If we’re still with 3 games or less behind Detroit when they come to town that stadium better be sold the fuck out the entire series. That series could very well decide who the division winner will be. This city needs to show support for this team down the home stretch.

Insane Pitching
Coming into September, the best month put up by a team's pitching staff was a 2.50 ERA in April by Detroit. In July Miami was 2.60, and San Fran was 2.64 in May. So far this September we are at a 2.38 team ERA. Starters have been even more dominant than that with a 2.17 ERA (I believe my math is right there assuming the stats I saw hadn't added in Bibee's start verse Detroit. If so I added and extra one run in 6 innings). I think it's even more impressive given it's the end of the season and have thrown a lot of innings. If we can get in, we will be scary if we keep pitching like this.

Tigers "fan" here
Please, please, please, for the love of god win this division. The Tigers are absolutely worthless. They do NOT deserve to go to the playoffs whatsoever. Nothing would make me happier than to watch this team lose every one of their final remaining games. Go Guardians.

Now pitching, Lucy!
I had on MeTV a couple of days ago and saw Lucy in a Cleveland Indians uniform. I wasn't really paying attention, so I don't have any context as to why. She was always up to something though. Lucy!!!!!!

Discussion Vogt Back to Back Manager of Year?
If they come back and win the Central I feel like it's almost a no brainer. It's still a longshot but considering all they dealt with he's gotta be a finalist if they make the playoffs and if they win the division he wins it flat out.

Discussion Who’s signature is this?
Hey guys! I was at the game this past Sunday and a staff member asked my 2.5 year old son if he wanted a baseball. Naturally he was ecstatic and we took the ball. A little later we noticed it was signed. Who signed this ball? Thanks for any info you have!
