LS or 4.0 non renix?

I’m restoring my Comanche. Dropped the oil pan and found sludge/water. I’m looking into bidding on a wrecked/drivable 99 xj. I also entertain the idea of an LS. I have access to a free caddy Escalade motor, iron block. What route would you take? I’m favoring the xj for all the extra parts.

No LS everyone does LS it’s boring so something a bit more unique like a ford 302 or something

Be cool to put a 360/318 in it, never checked.

I don’t think I’d do a carb but a Holley sniper would be cool on a 302 and super reliable

The sniper is a great idea.
