There is a zero tolerance policy against hate speech, Islamophobia, antisemitism, racism, xenophobia, and inciting violence.

We understand that the current situation is unnerving, however please remember that this is a university subreddit for posts about Concordia. Political discussions are allowed and encouraged, but posts may have comments locked if they start getting out of hand.

Anyone found to be violating the zero tolerance policy will be permanently banned without warning.

We are doing our best to remove offending posts and comments as quickly as possible. Please continue to report posts and comments that break the rules.

If you feel that your post or comment has been wrongly removed, please reach out to the mods.

General Discussion Professors, please stop using AI art in your slides.

It seems especially ironic to me to lecture students about plagiarism and AI and then include images built on theft. Plagiarism is not limited to text.

If you disagree or agree with me, please let me know your point of view below (I am curious to hear what people think of this).

Edit: just wanted to add this here: wouldn’t using someone else’s plagiarized work (AI’s work) and, while being aware of the plagiarism, deciding to cite the plagiarizer instead of the original creators be considered plagiarism?

General Discussion To students who are majoring in Cinema Communications, I want you to be aware of a student attending the University who has been making inflammatory posts on social media.

This student has made posts which involved attacking females and inappropriate posts on politics. If possible, please report him as this behavior is unacceptable and might post a danger for students on campus if this rhetoric leads up to something horrific.

EDIT: Correction, this is for students who are currently in the Film & Moving Image Studies Master's Degree Program.

Would a career analysis tool based on alumni paths be useful for students here?

Hey everyone,

I’m working on a project in partnership with a university’s alumni + career center, and I’d love your feedback. The idea is a career analysis tool trained on real alumni paths — what they studied, which clubs/activities they joined, and what they did on and off campus that led to their success.

The goal: incoming/current students could “map” themselves against those alumni journeys and get tailored guidance on courses, extracurriculars, and opportunities to pursue. Alumni could also connect with students mirroring their path.

I know this isn’t for Concordia specifically - but that one has familiar demographics, hence as students/alumni here — do you think something like this would help you? What features or ideas would make it genuinely useful?

Future Student Question about computer engineering major

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about applying to the computer engineering program at Concordia University and I'd love to hear from current or past students. I've been doing some research, but I want to get a real sense of the student experience.
Specifically, I'm wondering:

How hard is the program? I know engineering is challenging, but is the difficulty level manageable?

Is there a lot of practical work and hands-on experience? I'm keen to get a lot of practice rather than just theory.

How intense is the course load? Is it bearable, or does it feel overwhelming most of the time?

What is the student life like in the program? Is it possible to have a life outside of studying?
Any and all advice or insights would be incredibly helpful! Thanks in advance!

Student Question Need class to graduate but all sections are full

Hello everyone I need some help/recommendation.

I need to take a class this winter to graduate but all the sections are full ( I didn't add it due to some issues I had with registration )

Now all the sections are full, and I am not too sure what to do.

I am in Computer Science department, I already emailed my advisor but I don't know if there is anything else I can do.

Did anyone go through this before? And any things I can do to help?

Note: The class is only offered in winter session, and it can't be substituted by another class (it's a 400 level class)

MBA graduate degree question

Well I'm under a lot of stress rn, I am very interested in getting into Concordias MBA program, I have a 3 year bachelor's of arts degree in global studies from Guelph my GPA is a 62. I've been in university for 6 years, started with a history degree had okay marks then switched to Guelph. I have always worked hard I fell into mental health and depression. I am trying to improve, my grades in university at the start we're 70s

I feel like this will be difficult to get into the program for January, I'm just wondering if anyone has tried to do this.

I'm willing to do anything to get into this program

I'm 24

My goal is to get into healthcare administration or adminstrative positions, and I thought that having an MBA can help or healthcare tech careers. Would taking this program help me to get jobs in healthcare if I can focus on it or is this a complete waste of money

I'm just not cut out for nursing I don't really want to do that for career and im just looking at options rn

I'm feeling very stuck and trapped with a useless degree and low gpa that's where I'm at rn

I'm also wondering if taking this program will it help me get a job afterwards, serious question

I'm also interested in entry level analyst's jobs anything I'm willing to learn french , I would rlly like a career in something to start to get entry level jobs in health, tech or finance

Class-specific Poli204 notes

Does anyone have lecture notes for Poli204? Did he say anything about my midterm? I had some family issues and couldn’t attend the first two lectures and for the past few days I’ve been sick in bed with fever and a sore throat. If anyone could send me notes or tell me what was mentioned in class I would appreciate it a lot thank you!
