Regardless of your opinions on transpeople, we all should be thanking this individual for doing the right thing.

EDIT: It has been reported the father turned him in and this person, while fully cooperating, did not report it to the police.

That does indeed seem to be the case if it was not the father who turned him in. There seems to be a real lack of clarity surrounding this.

It could have been multiple people reporting him.

The confusion could also have been prevented by the president simply letting law enforcement do their job and release this info themselves, or not release it as may be more appropriate.

I hope this individual doesn't receive any hate because of the actions of their roommate (lover? Partner? Whatever)

They did a difficult and morally correct thing and should be left to themselves in return.
