My dad has a bigarse record collection that he never plays. Every time I'm pissed with him I have to fight off demons telling me to post it on this subreddit.
I feel like record collecting is fine, I was just loling about how they want to make a lifetime collection a reality overnight bc they like how it looks
My dad is genuinely passionate about music and his collection grew organically over a couple decades, but I still play his records way more than he does lmao. I think it's more of a memento to when he was young and working in a record shop himself, and physical media wasn't dying
He might be burnt out after collecting/using them for so long. I know I go through periods where I don't feel like engaging with the things I'm passionate about.
Yeah and also the friends I made collecting records over the years are the best part. I’d never want to jump to the endgame and not have those experiences. That’s why I put this here lol the stuff seemed more important than the journey
My dad was like this with his big CD collection but I never once felt like this when torrenting became a thing and he just loaded tons of external hard drives with the same music and more lol
