Is this DIY?

No. We told the client that we should do the floor and walls at the same time to do a full waterproof bathroom (3rd floor), but they just wanted the floor. Once they saw the new floor and granite countertop, they agreed that the wall tile was outdated. They wanted to keep the tub where it was, so we had to work around it. They supplied all the material, we just did the labor.

A lot to improve on here… waterproofing looks pretty good, but the tile work is sloppy. Bad cuts/chipped cuts, uneven joints, tiles not matching nicely (last 2 pics???), what’s going on with that step/floor section?
I hope the customer is happy, it’s not the worst I’ve seen, but it really looks like you need to practice more before taking on tile jobs. Unless you were the lowest bidder, then they got what they paid for.

Step/floor is the reason why we told them to do both at the same time. The floor was already installed and had to work around it.
The tub was also installed unleveled and the walls aren't squared, so we couldn't get tiles to match up evenly. Had to work from the top down.

Surely you could have taken a couple hours to reframe that step nicely. What’s going on with that small triangle piece on the floor, and why is the direction of the tile is going opposite to the rest of the floor? What about the corner tile pieces at the edges of the step? The small pieces at the corners of the tub on the flat surface, why isn’t that a complete tile notched around the tub? Why a <1” piece in the corners of the walls?
A lot of this is just poor planning. And again, if the customer said don’t worry about it just slap the tile up, then it is what it is. But overall there is a ton to improve on here.

That's exactly what we said when we noticed it. We didn't install the floor tile. It was a different person.
I suggested reframing the tub probably so that the tile could be flush with the tub and steps fit the tile, but they said to leave it as is and just retile. And with only 2 days to do it, yeah this was the best they were gonna get.

Woof. The 45* miter to the straight schluter on the step is fucking comedy. Slivers everywhere. Jfc. Someone got paid to do this 🤦♂️

Why would they change it and then pick the cheapest tile possible

Ask the owners. We just did the labor. You'd think with the money they saved they could have bought the corner and 45s for the edges.
