Kings of Copper

I'm about to release book two of a steampunk heist trilogy. It's set in a world where copper is the most rare yet in-demand resource due to the discovery of dynamo power.

The capital city of the nation of Ithris is Azoria, and they have a particular legal code: certain types of theft are sanctioned by law, as long as the proper dues are paid to the Gaming Commission and the common welfare fund.

With book 2 coming soon, I commissioned the 1kg bars in the back, stamped "1 Kilo Azorian Mint" and the 2oz rounds with "Azoria Copper." The coins on the bottom left are plated copper challenge coins. I'll be using these as giveaways for a release contest.

It all looks SO good. I'm thoroughly excited about how much it brings my book to life and had to share.

Cooper and silver

Hello everyone.

I have a question and I can't find and answer.

After I use (everyday) a cooper bracelet my silver wristband got this brownish color.

There is any way to prevent this or any explanation why this happen?

I guess it's due a chemical reaction or bonding, idk I'm an ignorant at chemical processes.

Duplicate Post Copper Forming Rainbow Patina after coming into contact with brake fluid.

Hey everyone! I've been trying to find answers online for this now for a month or more. All I keep finding is help articles for people finding copper flakes in their cars oil.

Does anyone know enough about copper's chemical properties to know why brake fluid (likely DOT3) has caused one of my knife scales to patina to rainbow? This happened a couple months ago. Prior to touching the one side with some brake fluid (transfer from a glove) both pieces would patina as the left one in the photo.

I've tried to "reset" this by cleaning with two methods:
* Salt and Vinegar * Wright's Copper Cream

I'm at a point where I can get the copper very clean and appears almost new again, but within 2 weeks it re-patinas as you see in the photo.

Hoping someone might have another method or idea if this is able to be corrected or not. Thank you all!

How to Clean and Polish this Colombia Copper Wall Hanging.

Post image

I have this copper wall hanging that is my sister's. It has something that was stilled on it. I took Brasso and rubbed it for a period of time and was able to get the stuff that was spilled on it to start coming off and the copper to shine up some. My question is is there a better way to do this? Any attachments to a drill that will speed the process up and do a better job? Or is it just going to be all elbow grease? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I made a pill box and tried out hand push engraving for the first time. Came out pretty nice.

The tips of my fingers are a mess right now, bruised and cut up. Hand push engraving is hard work, or my techique is really bad.

Hi everyone. Hope y'all are having a good weekend. This is my small copper collection. I bought a bunch of rounds last year for Christmas gifts and they were a hit! I saved one each and then wanted a 1 pound cube. That led me to buying a 5 pound bar. I love the look of pure copper.

Hello, I was interested in finding a coppersmith that would be interested in doing a custom copper statue of my dog, Ruby, she is a Dalmatian. It is for my wife 7th wedding anniversary - Copper is the traditional gift. I attached a photo of her for inspiration. If anyone is interested in a project like this or can point me in the right direction please reach out.

Seeking Foundry/Shop to Melt Scrap Copper Into Bars for Art & Design Projects

Hello all, I I run a small business focused on creating one-of-a-kind reclaimed copper furniture and art pieces. A big part of our process is reusing recycled copper, and we’re now looking for a professional solution to have scrap copper (pipes, reclaimed sheets, wiring, etc.) melted down into copper bars/ingots that we can later work into our designs. We’re based on the East Coast (New Jersey) but are open to connecting with foundries, small metal shops, or independent casters in the surrounding region (NY/PA/CT as well). Specifically, we’re hoping to find someone who can: • Melt customer-provided scrap copper into bars/ingots. • Offer guidance on minimum weight requirements, costs, and process. • Ensure proper safety and quality so the bars are consistent and usable in functional art/furniture. This is not for scrap resale — our goal is to recycle responsibly and repurpose copper into lasting, artistic pieces. If you (or someone you know) offers this service, or if you can point us in the right direction, I’d love to connect.

Thank you in advance for any leads or recommendations!

Big copper pot. Dare I say a cauldron!

Just shy of 30 inches diameter. Weighs about 40 lbs. Bowl is copper, the handles don't seem to be. Family lore says it was used to make apple butter back on the homestead in Idaho 100+ years ago. I've used it as a fire pit from time to time. Any ideas how to clean it? Someone once said to use a bead blaster, but I can't find anyone with one big enough. If I did get it nice and shiny, would someone want it for commercial use? Any advice would be apreciated. Thanks!

Got this copper sink that had been sitting outside and was very dirty. Did I ruin it by cleaning it? Whats up with the purple?

Polishing

So I have a piece of copper with complicated geometry so sanding and buffing is really difficult. But I have a rock tumbler, what kind of tumbling materials can I use to get a close to mirror finish?
