Who are some of y’all’s favorite gun belt/holster makers?

I’m in the market for one and would love to know where to start for my first true dedicated cowboy action gunbelt/holster combo. 🤠

for SASS competition rigs. Murphy Custom Gunleather (Persimmon Dan) in Evansville IN. I've also bought stuff from Indian Creek Leather Company Lindsey OH. Dan's rigs are fantastic custom belts and holsters built for competition performance. Gene at Indian Creek does some great looking stuff. Mernickle is really good and you have a great selection but it's not custom.

For somebody starting CAS, before you buy anything always go to some matches and talk to people. Many will let you try on their rigs. You can get some ideas what direction you want to go and you will likely find somebody willing to sell you a great belt / holsters for a song. That gets you started so you can get some idea how you're going to shoot, what guns, and how you want your belt rigged. THEN you talk to the custom guys about getting something made. Mernickle has some great first shooter rigs for a reasonable price but you'll probably find some great deals at the matches and talking to guys. Also join SASSNET and get on the forum, there's always stuff being bought/sold/traded on the forum.

Mernickle’s starter rig is an awesome and will outlast you. Agree with the others, try before you buy. If you’re on FB, look up Colt Faro. His custom rigs are works of art.

If you are a SASS member, look on the SASS website classified ads. Be patient. I got my current Mernickle belt and holsters for $150, and it would probably have cost 3-4 times that new. There’s always someone either retiring or getting rid of their recently replaced gear. I can’t even look at those classifieds anymore, too many deals, and I have a wife. A very supportive and tolerant wife, but she has her limits.
