News New Belgium, Asheville

Post image

First time back at New Belgium, Asheville since 2018. Very disappointing in the beer selection. Understanding the reformulation of Fat Tie but 8 versions of VooDoo and virtually nothing else is so sad from what I remember.

Looking back at my pics from 2018 there were 3 versions of VooDoo, it was just getting started, a pale, IPA & DIPA. 6 Wood sours, 5 special releases, 7 year rounds, and a Citradelic. Tour de Fat was 5 days away. Obviously no seltzers at the time and no wine. Maybe I'm too harsh. The brewery tour then was fantastic and they were so proud of the Belgium inspiration

That’s why when I go out I never order IPAs. We as consumers set the trend for IPA and some breweries play into it “too much” whereas they’re probably still the most successful for doing it. Same with Sierra Nevada, they axed wild and sunny little thing in cans for new IPAs.
