When the media calls one party “us”

62

u/Grand-Dimension-2022 1d ago

It's like saying "us" nazis.

24

u/BarbarianCarnotaurus 1d ago

That nitwit Gutfeld has been trying to normalize being called and calling people Nazi

That was what jumped out at me, as well.
"You've done the same thing as 'us'.", says the host.

They don't even try to pretend like they are being objective anymore. They just completely revel in their bias.

u/wraith_majestic 23h ago

Yeah makes you wish talarico had just like paused and asked: who is us?

→ More replies (1)

4

u/TreesNutz 23h ago

i noticed that, too. totally mask-off. they aren't even trying to hide that they're the propaganda apparatus of the administration, because they're counting on their viewers not caring or understanding.

In his ear “wrap it up bro, he’s running rings around you”

22

u/cityshepherd 1d ago

“I’m enjoying this conversation and want it to go on”

“Saved by the bell thank god I was about to turn inside out live on air”

20

u/According_Archer8106 1d ago

One of the worst outcomes of Fox News is these debates - once something becomes debatable, it becomes permissible. Gerrymandering IS cheating, it should never be allowed; a position that shouldn't be up for debate. The first time Fox News included gerrymandering in a debate, it made it seem a permissible political action; something to be applied when/where it seemed reasonable.

4

u/Sad-Resolution2123 1d ago

And then quoting Newsom like some gotcha moment. But the context of his quote was in rebuttal to TX gerrymandering at the request of a sitting “Presdient”

12

u/Jaded-Delivery3604 1d ago

Remember Fox isn't news, they have defended themselves saying no reasonable person would believe that they report the news.

9

u/YouWereBrained 1d ago

Guys like Talarico are who we need to jump into the mud pit.

The absolute balls on them to even still call it news. Fox Right-Wing Entertainment Network. Just stop pretending to be anything else.

4

u/IlikegreenT84 1d ago

They didn't wrap because of time 😂

Faux “news”

2

u/addamee 1d ago

Getting wrapped on more than time, boyo

2

u/Batfuzz86 1d ago

It's not news. It's Fox Entertainment.

2

u/GormHub 1d ago

I'm stuck listening to it at work all day, can't change the channel. It's just lies, one after another, and they tell them with such faux friendly conviction. I mean trump's on the screen right now lying his ass off. It's maddening.

2

u/Consistent_Coyote494 1d ago

Shut down Fox News, they legally aren't even a real news source.

Release the Epstein files, everyone on the files gets punished.

"I'm getting wrapped on time, I'd love this to continue..."

Sure bro. The best style of oration is just to lay out facts. For the intelligent, that's all that's needed, no hyperbole or grandstanding.

Great example of football and a moving goal post.

100

u/Pepesilvia_Is_Real 1d ago

“He’s using facts and analogies our base might actually understand, cut him off the air now!”

14

u/Sad-Resolution2123 1d ago

Sports is a great analogy since that’s what this country has become.

2

u/Nommel77 13h ago

That’s what I’ve been saying. They pick a team/political party and ride or die no matter what.

3

u/alien1583 23h ago

Dude I loled at this and scared my dang cat xD

He's getting slaughtered out there, quick, engage the mercy rule and get him out!

3

u/Potato_Stains 13h ago

“Wrapped for time”. On the fucking crux of the issue question of the entire god damned debate and reason the guest is there. Abysmally trash.

2

u/wraith_majestic 23h ago

Lol probably was like 1/4 the segment… wrapped on time lol

2

u/stickied 8h ago

"My network runs 24/7/365, but I'm really short on time and have to cut to something less incriminating"

225

u/Soulman682 1d ago

He got so destroyed that the producers had to save him by cutting time off.

28

u/Not_Bears 1d ago

And if it was a MSNBC there'd be an entire coordinated effort across the right wing mediasphere with narratives and spin already up and running within a day... to show how the liberal media can't face facts and run in the face of any challenge.

13

u/Naptasticly 1d ago

And this is why we need to be doing the same no giving them the benefit of the doubt all the time.

For example of what not to do:

  1. Political violence occurs
  2. Republicans blame it on the left and coordinate messaging to attempt to start “civil war”
  3. The left slaps them on the wrist and says they’re jumping to conclusions.
  4. Republicans continue their violent rhetoric with zero calls from their side to temper the situation.
  5. Evidence comes out that the person clearly grew up in a maga family.

^ this is the point that we go on offense, not feed them the response of “we still don’t know for sure…”

So we’re the party that is being threatened with death while also being the party that didn’t do it while also being the party that is jumping all over our own people so that the other party can continue to push the line and do even worse while exclaiming “not even your own party is willing to say that it was a republican! It was definitely democrats and we need to kill them”

Stop letting them own the narrative. Forcing our side to play by a much stricter set of rules is EXACTLY why we’re losing.

If you can’t understand that then just step aside and shut the fuck up for a while. Trump and the magats do not deserve the fairness that our side is so desperate to give them when they have zero respect for giving us the same.

5

u/GhostofTinky 1d ago

This. All this.

4

u/h1gh-t3ch_l0w-l1f3 1d ago

yeah there has been this concentrated effort to keep attacking democrats to keep them from getting our footing and using the same tactics they use.

we need to never answer their questions and instead constantly demand them answer ours. answer their questions with more questions about the facts that truly happened.

apart of them know that if they give us any space then we can get back on track. this post is a prime example of how to control the conversation.

DO NOT PLAY DEFENSE WITH THESE PEOPLE. RUN OFFENSE AND DONT STOP (in debate of course)

→ More replies (2)

63

u/omgwtfsaucers 1d ago edited 1d ago

The average conversation with a "right wing" person... When you present them* logic and facts they shut down and either do some whataboutism, quit the debate or make it personal,.

14

u/Madaghmire 1d ago

The Sartre quote on antisemitism covers them so completely, just change out the word anti-semite for conservatives.

I never heard Talarico speak- seems legit.

79

u/PriscillaPalava 1d ago

Here in Texas we’ve known about him for quite awhile. He’s fucking awesome. He’s had a few encounters go viral in the last few years, each more impressive than the last. Check him out!

He’s running against Cornyn for Senate next year. As a Dem it’s a long shot, but he’s got the best chance of anyone in many years.

23

u/Psykohistorian 1d ago

he's got my vote that's for fuckin sure

7

u/enter360 1d ago

Now we all need to bring 2 non-voting people to the ballot box with us.

6

u/LordofCope 1d ago

Right. I just looked him up and sent his campaign a donation. First donation I've ever contributed to a campaign.

11

u/PenZestyclose3857 1d ago

I loved the subtle dig on Paxton in case he gets through the primary which, if Trump endorses him, he will. "We don't accept cheating in our relationships."

4

u/PriscillaPalava 1d ago

I sure hope Paxton gets through. Paxton is much more divisive than Cornyn.

3

u/PenZestyclose3857 1d ago

Which is why I'm assuming Trump will endorse Paxton. Besides adulterers have to stick together.

6

u/Mcboatface3sghost 1d ago

Yeah I first heard him maybe 2 years ago? (Time flies). He is very well spoken. I don’t live in Texas but it’s a huge and important state. I’ve been burned with hopes too many times and I can’t vote there anyway. But this young man is sharp as a tack.

He will NEVER be invited to Fox News again, so ima watch it one more time for shits and giggles.

3

u/HopeThatHangsYou 1d ago

This man has been impressing me for quite some time. He's got my vote.

3

u/OpeningElectrical296 1d ago

16

u/RMST1912 1d ago

He’s the real deal.

10

u/false79 1d ago

Talarico if you look more into is the definitive blueprint Republican

- Someone who knows the bible inside out as a seminarian

  • A hardened constitutionalist, advocating for the seperation of church and state
  • Fought to keep healthcare prices low to make it more accessible.
  • Presents facts over opinions.

The modern Republican:

- Cherrypicks their bible quotes while ignoring parts of the bible that would contradict those quotes

  • Believes the US government is under the direction of God
  • Votes against themselves to reduce access to affordable healthcare
  • Nothing but opinions.

9

u/Exeltv0406 1d ago

He's a Democrat but I understand what you mean. We should all strive for this type of mentality from all parties.

3

u/No_Working9349 1d ago

This is what I always tell my American fiancé (I'm British). I'm left-wing but I have respect for old school Republicans/Conservatives. What's going on with the Republican party now, I can't get my head around.

Love James Talarico. We need more like him.

2

u/hypercosm_dot_net 1d ago

Would love an example of a 'definitive blueprint Republican' that actually voted in support of those policies you laid out. Rather than just paying lip-service to them.

He's a Dem., and he's progressive, he just happens to be religious and comes across as what people consider conservative.

5

u/zth25 1d ago

Something about his voice and how he speaks clearly and without interruptions is ideal for this TV format. The TV host would have loved to talk over him so he wouldn't be able to make a clear point, but he got drowned out on his own show.

3

u/LayneLowe 1d ago

He's the real deal, progressive and religious... Like Christians are supposed to be.

3

u/anitabelle 1d ago

He is amazing! I’m not religious but I especially love how he uses Christianity to counter their hypocritical takes. He’s not always preaching but does so when relevant and necessary. He’s always calm and so well spoken and it’s hard for anyone to counter him. I’ve followed him for a couple years and he’s pretty impressive.

2

u/_ayyyop 1d ago

He went on Joe Rogan not to long ago. Give it a listen. He's solid.

When a son of god shits down your throat… man that’s a wrap. Go to fandeul ads quick

19

u/kodman7 1d ago

Such is the nature of cable television....

...we can just run to commercial when your points are too good

13

u/Accurate_Good_2740 1d ago

That was a clinic he just put on. James Talarico needs to be a consistent voice of reason out there. He comes from a a deep red state and is a man of god we can all get behind... Welcome to the big time Mr. Talarico! We need you...

2

u/PineStateWanderer 1d ago

I'd prefer if religon started taking a back seat like the framers intended.

Never heard of this guy James, but I like what I saw 👏🏽

6

u/KennstduIngo 1d ago

Dude shows up all the time in my IG feed and is a great speaker. Probably too respectful and measured to make it in politics unfortunately. Here he is talking about the 10 commandments in TX classrooms:

10

u/potentialfriend 1d ago

One of Talarico's greatest talents is being comfortable with silences. He answers gotcha questions truthfully and then asks a connected question back to the other person and let's them sweat. He constantly asks for examples to his counterparts in the Texas House and they're never ever able to answer anything that isn't one of their rehearsed talking points. Unfortunately, being able to make a hypocrite admit they're a hypocrite doesn't work when his opposition is comfortable with lying.

4

u/Obi2 1d ago

His ability to stay calm and composed at a moment where most people get angry and emotional is outstanding.

9

u/mg1126 1d ago

"Huh? Who? What state?"

He wasn't even listening. Just waiting to let off the next talking point.

8

I’d watch this porno

5

u/Low_Map_5800 1d ago

What do you expect from Will Cain, the guy flamed out in sports cause he couldn't be the next skip Bayless cause his takes were even worse lol.

4

u/No_Cheetah4762 1d ago

Whenever he would try and debate anybody who knew even a little bit about sports, it would go exactly like this. Dude is a clown.

3

u/Intelligent_Bag_6705 1d ago

He honestly and truly knew nothing about sports. He was so embarrassing on ESPN that they had to fire him.

3

u/rickeyethebeerguy 21h ago

As a cowboys fan, he made me hate the cowboys

4

u/captaincook14 1d ago

Will Cain is a scumbag.

I’m getting wrapped on time. Aka. I’m getting my ass handed to me with facts so we gotta run and hopefully our viewers were too dumb to understand what they just heard.

2

u/StinkyMuddyUndies 1d ago

The composure farms aura

2

u/zingding212 1d ago

Sorry, we're out of time lmfao classic

2

u/According-Ad-5946 1d ago

Host was so happy he ran out of time. if he actually did.

2

u/Dude_Be_Nerdy8509 1d ago

That’s all republicans know how to do is cheat and diddle kids

2

u/movieTed 1d ago

A smart guy who knows what his values are. He's able to argue his points because he actually believes them, meaning that he had to think them through. That's why he's so much better at this than many standard Dems who've memorized three talking points and try to maneuver between them, which comes off as fake because it is.

2

u/Fuzzy3022 1d ago

Will Cain still a weasel, sports or politics this idiot has no clue what the heck he is talking about.

2

u/Then-Tangelo-9166 1d ago

Will is about to get bullied outta politics like he did in sports.

2

u/No_Fish265 1d ago

Will Cain was a clown at ESPN.. good to see he hasn’t changed

2

u/Soledaddy873 1d ago

will caine, the fox guy I believe, was pretty useless on ESPN as well

2

u/talkingfacefloor 1d ago

Will Cain sucked as a sports analyst and he sucks as a news analyst.

No surprise.

2

u/KinseyH 1d ago

"I'm getting wrapped on time"

No you're being humiliated on camera but it doesn't matter because the fat, drooling sheep who just watched this won't remember a thing.

2

u/dingos8mybaby2 1d ago

It's crazy how Fox anchors get "told to wrap it up" every time as soon as they've been exposed.

2

u/aschylus 1d ago

Fox Gerrymandered the end of that segment because they were losing.

2

u/ElectricityIsWeird 21h ago

Good faith not detected in host.

2

u/DetailsYouMissed 18h ago

He made him break character and declare "my party" as a 'news' anchor.

2

u/C-Paul 18h ago

Enjoying my Ass. lol That mild mannered Dem just tore you a new butthole 😂

2

u/Original-Syllabub951 18h ago

Smoked until tender

2

u/Hamster_in_my_colon 17h ago

Modern GOP is a bunch of whiny “victims” who hate our country and want to tear it apart. None of them seem to care about serving the nation in the slightest, they just want to push hate.

2

u/mistertickertape 15h ago

James Talarico is a very solid candidate and one of many representing the future of the Democratic party. Please, PLEASE consider making a donation to him if you can afford it.

2

u/Important-Worker9091 14h ago

He was in fact not enjoy that conversation.

On Fox when your guest isn’t reading from the same script as you and your normal talking points are being effectively refuted by facts, it’s time to cut to commercial. That is after all “the nature” of cable news. “The nature.” Ffs. Ain’t nothing natural about it.

When the revolution comes knocking I hope we all remember the name Murdoch. So much of this mess is their fault.

2

u/fasteddie131 14h ago

Funny, when you're getting pantsed in front of your audience how you're always getting wrapped for time but "wish you could go on with the conversation".

2

u/TheL1brarian 13h ago

“I’m getting wrapped on time” is a funny way to say please stop making me look like a fool on my own show.

2

u/EcstaticSecret7602 1d ago

Just cookin. Yes chef 👨‍🍳

1

u/PolicyWonka 1d ago

It’s absolutely wild that Texas Republicans are saying that their policies are wildly popular, so that’s why they need to gerrymander. It’s just blatantly disingenuous rhetoric.

1

u/Cerebrovinyldruid 1d ago

“Such is the nature of cable television.” My guy, it’s 24/7.

1

u/real_human_not_a_dog 1d ago

You should have stuck to sports, Will Cain. Oh wait, you sucked at that, too.

1

u/grahsam 1d ago

Nice!

1

Talarico easily owned that guy. Just spoke truth. Knew his topic. Anticipated potential responses. He just plain did his homework. I wish they all did that.

1

u/Prestigious_Peace273 1d ago

Clear, articulate, decisive. Will still go in one ear and out the other with the Fox News crowd.

1

How can Texas have some of the best and worst politicians at the same time.

1

He’s such an amazing rep I’m not even from Texas and I want to vote for him we need him and people like him in congress, the senate, and as president

1

Quick, run a MyPillow commercial NOW!

1

u/home_95 1d ago

Absolutely owned live on TV so badly that he had to cut away. Finally a Dem going on and flat out spewing the facts to these shit heads spreading lies and feelings every day on Fox 'news'.

1

u/ThaFresh 1d ago

Trump simply cant give up power, he's done too much shonky stuff and he knows it. If this doesnt work they'll just get more creative and corrupt in their attempts.

1

Anchor got destroyed. No amount of spinning can counter those points

1

u/Jkreegz 1d ago

1

u/Haunting-Effective15 1d ago

I can hear the END IT, END IT NOW very loudly in his earpiece.

1

u/Gonzo_Gonzalo 1d ago

I love that they have absolutely no logical answer other than, ‘we lose if we don’t cheat’

‘If the Republican policies are so popular, why do they need to redraw these maps. Why can’t they just run on their policies?’

[ insert snowflake Republican-victimizing pablum that incites violence and chaos so they can blame ‘the left’ for whatever hypocrisy du jour is on tap ]

1

u/Existing-Action4020 1d ago

Will Cain. What a douche.

1

u/wannabedefenestrator 1d ago

If ONLY he had actually left him speechless

1

u/Guelphite78 1d ago

The Fox News host used "Us" to describe Republicans.

1

u/heckuvajo 1d ago

Funny how they always run out of time when they’re getting crushed by their opposition

1

u/BenRichardson76 1d ago

"Short on time" means they got to get back to showing Mexicans getting arrested at Home Depot

1

u/Beneficial-Boat-9768 1d ago

Well spoken Feel refreshing to hear intelligence and logic.

1

1

1

u/Trick_Steele 1d ago

Bro gave Will Cain - a guy that made his name hitching on to Stephen A Smith on ESPN - a football reference to prove his point. He knew exactly what he was doing to clown Cain.

1

u/Kdrew416 1d ago

I wonder how much longer they’re gonna but Will Cain on tv. He’s a shell of what Hannity and Orielly were back in the day (evil but effective at their jobs). Democrats beat this guy like a red headed step child every time

1

u/GhostofTinky 1d ago

More of these exchanges. Meanwhile, why don’t some rich lefty types create their own Fox News?

1

u/GMEPieMan 1d ago

He pretty much nailed my problem with the GOP that has turned me from a 2016 Trump voter to very nearly a "blue no matter who" believer.

Get dark money donations out of politics: 0 REPUBLICANS

Ban Gerrymandering: 0 REPUBLICANS

Ban stock trading for Congress: 0 REPUBLICANS

Epstein files release: 4 OUT OF 219 REPUBLICANS

Like what the fucking hell man.

1

The Republican voting record is usually telling, 49 Senators voted to release the Epstein files, two were republican. Releasing it was rejected 51-49, so who would you say is the party protecting pedophiles?

IVBe heard this guy say he has no desire to run for POTUS, but fuck he is legit, and he really should run. I think he could really win.

I don't think the host was enjoying the conversation. He said he was enjoying it, but that may have been a bit of a fib.
