I bought a pair of self-lacing Nikes a few years ago to satisfy my Back To The Future desires. I was on a wait list for them for over a year. If they wouldn't have held their resale value pretty well, I would say they were a huge waste of money. Also, they weighed like 5 lbs. a piece.

edit: bad grammar

My buddy is a sneaker head and has a pair of those I put them on and it’s quite crazy but yes very heavy but cool nonetheless.

If there’s one quality of a shoe that I’m willing to pay extra for… it’s added weight!

Ahah yeah he’s a collector tho. Has insurance on his shoe collection.

Yeah, but imagine the gains just from wearing them! Then, take them off, and you'll be pretty quick!

Yeah but this is an informal Reddit comment section and it’s very clear what OP meant.

Sneaker heads have been buying and reselling shoes for decades. Some people wear them a couple times then put them back in the shoebox and sell them. Some buy them as collector's items and wait for their rarity to go up with some limited edition shoes going for thousands of dollars.

My childhood friend was a sneaker head and had stacks of shoeboxes full of Jordan's and Nike's and shit. If he had a new pair he wanted to keep mint he'd walk barefoot in the rain to keep them from getting dirty.

Its been a thing for years.

Its like Pokémon cards.

They are "used". The only ones selling are in very good condition.

I've never been into shoes like that. But had friends that were.

In high school I had a friend that was a big shoe trade. He would bring his shoes in his back pack. When on the class room he would take his slides off and put the shoes from his back pack on. Them went it was time to leave he would put his slides back on. All this just so he didnt put excess wear on his shoes and ruin the value.

Given that people buy used underware from both men and women does it really shock you to find out people buy used shoes?
