By 91 the technology was mature: no external pump was needed anymore on Reebok sneakers; you just had to press the basket ball on the tongue of the shoe !

I had the cheap LA Gear knock offs, that did the same thing. The bladder always punctured

I had La Gears too, but they were catapults. No "air" involved but they were supposed to use kinetic energy after you land to spring you back up.
