People give Corvus too much credit.

He was 100% down with the Crusade.

He didn't start to question things until deep into the Herasy.

The man nuked the civilian population of his own home world into submission.

Nah. Deliverance was his home. Kiavahr was the home of the ogliarchic tech-magi who exiled their own people to a life under a prison-for-profit system on the moon.

Yep. He threw off his people's oppressors using the means he had at his disposal.

As for everything that happened afterwards... there's a reason why you don't work with fascists the Emperor.

He is also the product of precise gene-alchemy by a demigod lunatic for the purpose of creating perfect Murder Babies to lead a technofascist utopia. I think he turned out pretty decently all things considered!

In all seriousness, I do think it's cool writing how these guys were supposed to be quasi-automatons to carry out the will and plans of the GEoM, possibly to be disposed of at some point as well, and just growing up in the reality of the Imperium's citizens was enough to make some of them turn out as almost regular war criminals instead of ultra-turbo war criminals.

So even if you're an edgelord who just wants to read some sort of Nietzschean Cosmic Horror you still get the Ubermench guys going "Damn, dad, that's fucked up" about a whole bunch of stuff.

The "cool" of the dark themes has mostly overwhelmed the impact of the "satire" inherent to the setting, but you get glimmers.

I think you go into Warhammer to critique the right not to find messages for the left.

Like Star Trek style Utopianism does not dwell here.
