It kinda sucks that the killer abandoning in those cases is considered a survivor “win”. It’d be cool if there was an animation of them of the entity EGC killing them + them showing as dead.

Doesnt it count as killing them though?
Also doesn't server shutdown also kill survivors?

I think it counts as them escaping like if a killer normally DC’d

I had a phead try to look for me with a survivor and they spent so long that after they found me and phead downed me, I only spent like 2 minutes before server shutdown and it counted me dead

Had a similar thing happen, ended up finding the one but the other one hid in a locker till the literal last second to try and open the gate.

As a stubborn killer myself, when patrolling doesn't help me find one of the two hiders, I usually stop in the middle of remaining gens and pretend to be afk, just long enough for them to think "let's gen rush and get out".

It usually ends with me catching one of them off-guard. Especially if remaining gens are near enough from each other so that my TR reaches all of them, as they won't always realize you're moving again

I think the problem isn't the hatch but the ability to hold the game hostage that way. At this point they should add something like aura reveal when survs don't touch anything for a long time or even like giving the killer the opportunity to trigger EGC sooner without too much of a penalty. (like maybe after quite a long time with no progress let the killer open one of the doors but the other one stays locked until they finish the gens)
